Is Creepy That Kate Winslet Kissed Liam Hemsworth?
Kate Winslet is too old for Liam Hemsworth because Kate is older 15 years than Liam.
Kate is 40 years old. Liam is 25 years old. Their age gap is 15 years.
Why both actors were chosen for this movie? Cannot they find someone who can close to Kate's age for this movie? Or they just follow the book what it shows the indentification of the characters' ages.
LOL what a stupid point.. why its weird for you bc here female actor is elder than male actor. i am sure its totally fine with you when Bradley Cooper kisses Jennifer Lawrence(they also have 15 years of gap). Kate and Liam looked great together in this movie. and The Dressmaker was awesome

are you so conservative that you cannot accept a younger man kissing an older woman? Get with the times, nowadays it's so common for older women to date younger men, even with huge age differences. And I see nothing wrong with the Kate & Liam pairing, they look about the same age in the movie anyway and they have great on-screen chemistry, it doesn't bother me.
Their ages didn't match up, but the kissing wasn't weird. The movie doesn't have a quarter of the sex scenes in the book. Everyone in that town was supposed to be getting down... I couldn't quite tell how their ages added up with the events of Tilly's past and what he knew. He wouldn't have even been born if Tilly were only ten at the time she left.
15 years is actually quite a modest age gap by movie standards; the big leading men of Hollywood have always been romantically paired with females much younger than themselves. Frequently you'll see them in on-screen relations with girls 20 years or more younger than themselves.
It's not new. Take Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly in "High Noon" (1952), they were married on-screen and had an off-screen affair -- he was 50, she was 21...
Last year, Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde played lovers in "Third Person". The age gap is 32 years.
And obviously, apart from that, Hemsworth should be counting his lucky stars. Winslet is hotter than most women half her age.
IMDb-boards would be less confusing if people would mark their signatures clearly.
When you have childhood sweethearts the age difference is never 15 years ever, only with movie logic does this make any kind of sense. In order for 15year gap to make sense you need to meet when the young is 20ish and the old is 40ish (unless you want to move into pedo territory).
Did not bother me in the movie as you dont have time to figure out how illogical it is. What bothered me was how similar snook(trudy movie name) and liam was in age and then how much older Winslet was, to me it made it seems bother of those should be of similar age as Winslet.
Ive become so used to it in movies that the man is older that i dont react to it anymore made me realize how much more uncommon it is for female to be older in the movies i watch.
NeutralWord: Excactly! I feel the same way. It didn't bother me but I do think they should have found someone closer in age. Not that Winslet looks old or anything.
Oh, BROTHER, people! I didn't start seriously dating until I was almost 30. I was always working, or doing my 'art thing'. When I did start, every guy I went out with was MUCH younger than me. When I was 35, I started dating a guy I worked with. He was 25. We got married. That was 25 years ago. We're still totally devoted to each other, have always had a completely mad sex life, and we will be together until we die.I know many, many couples who are the same age, and they don't have half the commitment and bond that we have. Age is a number. It doesn't define you.
No age does not define you, I agree - but that's not really the point! They're supposed to have grown up together and known eachother and then he's a young stud and suddenly she comes back - and he's all single?? Not believable. No.
It has nothing to do with the 'real world', IMO. Just pointing out that Liam and Kate is like mother and son - and as I understand it, that's NOT how it's supposed to be portraied.
Yes, you're right...circumstances do matter. If I had met my husband when he was 10, and I had already been working for a few years, I'm sure that would have made a big difference in how we felt about each other later on. That does seem creepy. 😱👦👵💔
I'm prrrrrettttty sure we all know it's a movie. People here are talking about something that can relate to real life, though. Just because it's a movie, it doesn't negate the fact that things can and will effect people in both negative and positive ways. Movies often relate sentiments that people identify with. Otherwise, everything would be a documentary, and we might as well just kill our imaginations. Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth kissing wouldn't bother me, but the added fact that they were supposed to have known each other since childhood (when only one of them would actually be considered a young child) puts it in a different light. You may not find it creepy, but some people will. there is no right or wrong here, but merely perception.
