shareThey've ramped up the gore because they can get away with that now; there's no way they could have done it to that degree when Friday the 13th etc started out. But Terrifier goes for as much gore as it feels it can get away with, just like F13 did. The intent is the same; it's launching a new slasher franchise/villain, a franchise that unapologetically exists to slaughter teenagers in the bloodiest ways it can show. It's absolutely a successor to the 80s slasher heyday.
