Why?

Loved Trainspotting, great movie top to bottom... There is simply no need for a sequel, from a storyline or financial perspective.

Don't do it!!! Some are best left alone!!

reply

Read both books and ask yourself which would make the better film, the answer is Porno. Might not pan out that way, but it is a better story imo. John Hodge really did a phenomenal job turning Trainspotting into a screenplay and he's written the screenplay for Porno too.

There's always a reason to do a sequel from a financial perspective. That's the whole point of making movies...

reply

From a business angle yes, from an artistic standpoint, not really.

I really dont agree with u ,

First of all after trainspotting almost all actors mastered their profession and took their acting to their next level.

Here is an e.g : judi dench is acting on plays god knows for how long ... lets say u have seen her in an A play in 1979 then the same play goes on in 2015 and judi dench is top notch . wouldnt you see her again? u would want to miss the oppurtinity ? Its preposterous to say no need to see them again, you all not are fortune tellers you can't know what will happen and you really dont need to compare the charecters to trainspotting , novel takes a part at least 10 years later. movie probably will more than that , charecteristics will be changed of course.

But wouldn't these characters all be nursing home age by now?

reply

No.

Lol, what? They were in their early to mid 20's in the first one. It's only been 20 years, they're only going to be in their early to mid 40's.

I was addressing that someone said the novel was the characters 10 years later, not 20 years later, and one main character is played by an actor almost 58. Maybe closer to 60 by the time the movie is actually finished. A movie has to appeal to a lot of age groups. If this is promoted like Grumpier Old Men, maybe.

reply

None of the main characters are 58. The oldest actor in the film is Robert Caryle who is 55.

55 isn't that old. The next oldest of the four main actors is Ewan McGregor who is 45 and that is hardly old.

It's impossible, but I will do it--The Walk.

reply

40s is "nursing home age?" You're a moron. Most people aren't in nursing homes until almost twice that age.

They should all be dead, apart from Begbie they were all smack heads. I guess heroin isn't that bad if they've all reached middle age.

I agree.

Because why not.

reply

Because the book sequel to Trainspotting is fantastic and better than Trainspotting.
