Rey will defeat anyone, at any time, with no training, and without much of a problem. She's the most skilled and infallible character ever created.
The only other character who comes close to her perfection is Superman...but he can still be subdued with kryptonite, which would have no effect on Rey. Plus he's a white dude, so...in 2019 that's a no-no, so he might as well be a villain now.
The point is...Palpatine will stand no chance against the mighty Rey.
You want a spoiler for episode IX? Rey wins. Sorry to ruin it for you.
Superman is *currently* a white dude, this could easily change.
shareLook. Since the beginning of this Di$ney ST debacle I've been calling out MaRey for being the horribly written Mary Sue character that she is.
I can express this without playing into the ridiculous mysogynist bigot accusations by making "muh poor white dudes" comments. Rey is a terribly written character and probably the biggest Mary Sue I've ever seen on a major film but I don't see how a misguided attempt at white girl power equals a slight against white guys.
I mean the series token black guy is portrayed as a weak, cowardly sap & generally inferior to Rey in every way and for some inexplicable reason undyingly devoted to her 2 minutes after meeting her. A poorly written character in his own right but definitely more "Loser Sue" than Mary Sue.
I don't take her as a slight against white guys. I don't really care either way to be honest. Whether they are intentionally going for an over the top "girl power" message or not...she's just not a well written character.
She's boring as hell, and she is perfect at everything. Nothing to overcome, no flaws to give her layers and make her human. Those qualities are just not interesting for any character. But since it's 2019, everything has to be in some way, shape, or form about race, gender, class, gender identity, etc. So just like anything involving politics, people choose sides and dig their heels in with their stance. I think her character is annoyingly perfect. If her character was a man, I'd feel the same way, but you can't criticize a female character without morons calling you sexist, but whatever...today calling someone a sexist or racist is so overused it's lost any power it used to have, and it's just noise. It means nothing. Especially on the internet.
There is probably one thing I did find especially obnoxious and overly feminist about Rey, and that is in TFA when Finn grabbed her hand and ran, and all she did was bitch about him grabbing her hand, instead of worrying about the people coming to kill them, but a few minutes later, in the ultimate act of hypocrisy, Rey grabbed Finn's hand and tried to lead him along. That was the writers really trying to make a feminist statement. Other than that it was just her character I wasn't a fan of.
Anyway...spoiler alert for the new movie: Rey will win. Easily. Whoever she has to fight. The Emperor, Vader, Luke, Darth Emo, Obi Wan...Rey will take care of them all with ease, because it's Rey...the most flawless character of all time.
rey will destroy the next death star with her bare hands.
shareMan, I wish there was someway to bring Luke back for a Luke/Palpatine lightsaber battle. Be way cooler than Yoda/Palpatine.

She'll team up with Kylo Ren and she'll turn out to be a Skywalker. Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson went waaaaay too far with the Mary Sue stuff in The Last Jedi, like it literally didn't matter that she hadn't had any training, of course she can hold her own against Snoke's well trained guards and lift all those boulders with ease.
Rian Johnson literally gave Kathy Kennedy everything she ever wanted with Rey and she lapped it up regardless of logic cus the force is female.
JJ will retcon the Snoke fight so that Rey was just toying with him. Rey will easily solo the fourth Death Star and Palp along with it, don't worry. You think the most powerful Sith lord that ever lived and who studied the powers of the dark side his whole life is a match for some girl who discovered the force roughly two weeks ago?

Rey will defeat Palpatine in E9. but she won't do it alone she will team-up with Kylo Ren. Ben will redeem himself and return to the light.
Rey and Kylo Ren will destroy Palpatine for good in E9.
A dance-off like in GOTG, of course.
