Can We Agree That Last Jedi Is NOT Canon?

I was holding out hope for Abrams to fix this mess with Episode 9. But, if he originally had a good storyline, then he wouldn't have been so quick to have another director takeover and write this mess. And Abrams had written "Lost" which didn't have much followup. Therefore, I have no hope for Episode 9 nor Disney Star Wars and consider everything they do to be noncanon from this day forward.

I'm restoring all of George Lucas' movies, books, games, etc. as canon. I'll still watch the new Disney stuff until it's no longer tolerable. But it can no longer negatively effect me (rage, tears, grief) because I know it's NOT canon.

Will you join the rebellion in a fight against the evil Disney Empire?

I think Johnson wanted to take it in his own direction, which didn't bode well for previous entries in the series, but I also didn't think it was as awful as some are saying.

I'm trying to go for an entertaining, informative youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any thoughts or criticisms, i'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. Review right here- https://youtu.be/nerCnafPUm8

"some"? The absolute majority clearly states that TLJ is trash.

Like it or not, it's canon to the series and no amount petitions or bitching and complaining will change that.

Its Disney canon. And noone has to pay any attention to that company. Its like when Lucas did his "Han shot first". No real fan gave a damn about it, cause they already got the amazing Laserdisc edition :) .

Another good example is Star Trek Enterprise. Im one of the few fans which realized that Star Trek Enterprise was an awesome series, cause it got back to the exploration format of TOS. And there were a lot of different characters at the ship so that the chemistry between them was fine. But (!!!!!!) when they turned ST ENT into a stupid war crime series (like todays ST Discovery) with season 3 I stopped watching it. So beside there are more then 2 seasons of ST ENT released, I dont give a damn about them.

Or an even better example is Star Trek Continues vs Star Trek Discovery. Star Trek Continues is one of the best Star Trek series ever released. Its for the first time that a series was that good that I felt like the child again that watched the TOS reruns at the late 70s :) (and, beside that im indeed watching also old movies, im also not a hater of everything released today (there are many awesome movies released in this decade). But given the fact that most movies made today are only (!) optimized for worldwide box office sales, there isnt much room left for good stories or characters. Thats why there are indeed today less interesting movies then a few dacades ago). But for CBS/Paramount it doesnt exist at all. But horrible Star Trek Discovery, which no Star Trek fan give a sh*t about, is CBS/Paramount canon (which no fan give a damn about :) ).

So company canon is sometimes interesting, but its just one of many canons out there.

I vote the Thrawn Trilogy is canon and episodes 1-3 and 6-9 are all a dream.

RIP Mara Jade

I agree with you. In fact I'd go even further: to me, everything that happens after Luke gets knocked out by Tusken Raiders on Tatooine is in fact, from Luke's coma. That includes all movies. In this way, I have a coherent explanation of the whole Star Wars universe, including plot holes, and whatnot.

reply

He comes out of a coma 10 years later, in a hospital somewhere. Aunt Beru brings him some blue milk, and he says "Wow! I just had the weirdest dream. And you were there, and you were there, and . . "

It is Disney Star Wars canon.

I prefer the Expanded Universe, but Disney now calls that Star Wars Legends.

reply

I'm calling the Expanded Universe canon. Disney Star Wars is Legends. Star Wars doesn't belong to Disney, but to the fans who made it successful for over 40 years. Join my movement. Canon is what YOU say it is.

reply

It would be great to redo the prequals as part of the Expanded Universe.

By the way, Mara Jade disguised as Arica is in the NPR radio drama version of The Return of the Jedi. That had been authorized by Lucas.

reply

Canon is just a word, dude. If you like the original Star Wars stuff and want to ignore the latest pile of shit from Disney, then go for it.

reply

No, we CAN'T just agree that it's not canon just to suit a faction of whining losers and ruin it for those who did enjoy the film.

This is absurd...

The hermeneutics of Star Wars... Really?!

Guys.... Please get a grip... For the sake of your mental health if nothing else...
