#1 Movie Domestic, #1 Movie Worldwide in 2017. What a failure, ha, ha, ha...

And the haters and crybabies sobbing and butthurt. Complaining about stupid things that can be applied to many of the OT movies... Ha, number on movie 2017... This will be the sixth movie to make over 600 Million domestic. Yes, only six movies in history have managed this feat.

Whoever really thought it could do TFA numbers or near it is realla stupid and ignorant. No second movie of a SW trilogie has done something like that.

reply

No one doubted it would do huge numbers. That was never in question. Uwe Boll could have written and directed it and it would have been a billion plus movie. R1 made a billion. The question was where it would end up and where it could have...did I expect it to make 2.1 Bil? no. But did I expect it to do better than it is now? yeah. Another thing to look at is how it will effect the following films, that will be a clearer indicator of this films fan issues.

And don't forget:

4) They have pissed off a lot of movie theaters who had to play TLJ in the biggest screen for 4 weeks when it started to go down quickly after the second week. Using your biggest screen for TLJ when it was Jumanji and Insidious the ones making money must have been a bitter pill to swallow. I doubt they will sign such conditions again for any SW movie to come.

reply

I'm not sure anyone has argued that SW doesn't have brand power? This is exactly what disney are exploiting...

reply

So, now it is official, the sixth movie in history to gross over 600 million at the domestic market. The failure seems complete, ha...

reply

It also fell to number 8 in its 6th week at the box office...TFA was still number two by its 6th week. Not to mention earning 800 million less than its predecessor. No one that dislikes TLJ Is calling it a failure...that would seem to be coming from its supporters. Those that were disappointed call its performance what it is...hugely disappointing.

reply

Well Mark Hamill himself sarcastically said that if it makes money then it must be good. I think he's more qualified than anyone opinion-wise. But you go right ahead and blindly follow the herd.

When you're ready to be honest with yourself you'll realise that any poster in this thread could have directed it and it would still make a ton of money because it's Star Wars.

reply

Yup, the money really means nothing. The reception does. I kinda liked the movie but I accept that most did not.

I'm trying to go for an entertaining, informative youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any thoughts or criticisms, i'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. Review right here- https://youtu.be/nerCnafPUm8

I want to say something sarcastic but it's just plain stupid to equate money with quality.

Furthermore, "butthurt" and "crybabies" are terms used on the playground of an elementary school, not in response to well thought out critiques.

It is interesting that people calling themselves social justice warriors who are supposed to fight for social injustice end up calling names and trying to insult and bully everyone disagree with them.

What is their difference from fascists anyway?

Great point, fc.

It's easy: they're the good guys, and the fascists are the bad guys. No matter they behave the same way, you can't compare them, because one ares good and the other ones are evil. Why is is so difficult to understand?

It's like the left position about Israel: they expect jews to put down weapons and accept being slaughtered. But as they're the good guys, having jews slaughtered is OK then. Killing jews is only wrong when the killers are germans, not Muslims. Basic modern morality ^_^

reply

Well put but unfortunately it's not modern morality, it's as old as humanity. "Me good - you bad". Though this actually makes it worse as we have countless evidence from history of where this argument gets you.

reply

my biggest complaint is that it was a shite movie with crap plots and crap jokes and treated iconic characters in a crap way to make way for a new trilogy by Hack Johnson, if this was truly a good movie it would make a hell of a lot more than 1.3 billion.

reply

and let me add that this poor excuse of a star wars movie will have a huge impact on future movies, do you really think fans will flock to watch Rian Johnsons new trilogy ? me thinks not
