Ok you got a time machine and you can only go back a few hours before 9/11 happens, what do you do to stop it from happening.
And a heads up for the really young people, American government was not like it is today they ignored a lot of threats.
I would get a few friends and do the exact same thing the hijackers did, only I would do it on September 10th. No more 9/11.

Trying to prevent 9/11 could result in you being the direct cause of the events to happen, through a weird series of events. It all depends on what model of time travel you want to use, even if you prevent the event from happening, it might only be in the splintered universe, the universe you came from the events still happen.

shareYou couldn't just warn everybody not to get on the plane as everybody would think your nuts and board the plane anyway so it would still happen and you would be a suspect. Even if you did stop it the terrorist would do something else and kill people that shouldn't of been killed causing the ripple effect. You would be better off killing the terrorist before they even left their houses though don't get caught or killed as that would be the end of you in the future. The end of you would cause a ripple effect too.

If you are looking to stopping 9/11 by just a few hours, you would fail miserably.
The only way to prevent 9/11 is in the long term. Probably longer then we can imagine. It'd probably do something with preventing the Crusades.
If you want to look at short term abilities to stop a 9/11 atrocity, we could at least go back and change the fact that the US helped Afghanistan against Russia back in the 80's. That gave a certain mind set that if they can beat Russia, they can beat the west, unknowing to most that without US aid, they'd continued to get slaughtered. This emboldened such groups to continue plans to attack America, the earlier WTC bombings and then leading up to 9/11.
Had we allowed Russia to kill them all, they wouldn't have been alive to commit terrorist acts against us.
Or we may have to go further back in time to the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, which can be seen as the initial instigation of the west with middle eastern policies, which lead to the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979.
It would have to take a large web of western intervention against middle eastern policy to truly prevent 9/11 in more then a short sighted stopping of a singular event that can just be tried again and again until they get the mass murdering effect they were trying to accomplish....
Preventing the Crusades you do know they were started by the Muslims invading the Byzantine Empire and the King asked the Pope for Mercenaries. Then they decided to try to take back the lands the Muslims conquered over the previous centuries.
If you allowed Russia to actually steal the land in Afghanistan and actually steal the oil. The iron curtain may have never come down and things could be much worse. The problems with the Middle East can mostly can be traced back to the idiotic way the British broke up the Ottoman Empire. They knowingly put long warring factions together in the same countries.
Even then they have always been tribal since Muhammad.
Hard to say. I would go back in time but I won't magically have money to go to New York. Even if I did, how would I get the people in the World Trade Center to believe me? They wouldn't feel like evacuating just because some crazy person tells them, specially at such an early hour.
If I managed to get on the plane, how would I stop the terrorists? They were armed! Also, I couldn't be in all the planes at the same time.
Is not possible, the government was notified weeks before 9/11 that a plane hijack was planned by al-qaeda and the fbi did nothing to prevent it.

so, for all we know, someone already went to the past and warned them, but they ignored hime.
Mossad also warned the CIA that there was a threat but they shrugged it off. A month later the planes crashed.

Do you know how many threats they receive daily. The FBI couldn't have done anything about it they didn't know the names of the people, the dates, or times.

I would go to the towers get a bullhorn if there is one and starting at the top floor of the first building turn on all the water, pull the alarms, Tell everyone to evacuate "We've" had a report about 3 planes being hyjacked and coming to hit the buildings with nukes.
some will leave because they believe you, some will leave because crazy people are running around, and some will leave because *beep* it they get a day off and can blame you.
maybe you can get everyone to leave. if so it's building twos turn, and you have an explosion soon coming to help move peoples asses.
Yes I would sacrifice the plane passengers and the dumbasses on the street looking up. they are already dead given the time frame of a few hours.
That's how I would do it, though I wouldn't do it. talk to me about stopping a school shooting not about business people in offices.
