Why does Justine lie?
At the end of the film when she is back in the US she lies and says the villagers are peaceful and that the loggers slaughtered them all. Why does she lie? To protect them? Why??

shareI was so happy when they were getting wasted at the end. Then she lied. I have no idea why she lied. Freaks like that don't deserve to be near any other human beings, they need to be put on their own little island away from any other human existence.
share"Freaks??" A culture issue eh.
A tribe who ain't seen the world. There fault?
Who cares who's fault it is...
shareEmpathy and compassion are not a cultural thing. They chose to hurt and kill, and not even for food, but sometimes just for the sake of hurting them.

Really? Because they're a rare-ish unknown-ish tribe from the Amazonian Jungle!
Where the only other folk they have encounted is... None or hardly any. Apart from the big tyrana Digger-saurus they witness now and then... That's clanged a few tribbles along the way.
When someone eats your friends/family, let me know if u change your mind set. F ppl who eat ppl.
shareMy family and friends don't plan on visiting the amazonian jungle! So therefore won't be eaten by the natives who reside there. so i won't be changing my mind set anytime soon.
If someone climbs into a lions cage at the zoo and get's eaten... is it fair to shoot the lion dead?
Have a think.
If they didn't want to be chow, they should've done what intelligent people do when trying to affect change in places thousands of miles away: write to people in positions of power who can sway Big Money into doing something different besides what they're doing at the moment.

No, It was real, she lied to protect the tribe, which was her mission all along.
shareCannibalism isn't only happening in the Amazonian jungle..
Ever heard of Jeffrey Dahmer?
And he wasn't the only one.
Cannibalism happens world-width, from America to Germany, from Korea to the Dominican Republic..
"Gar nicht so ĂĽbel, du kleine Schlampe. Man sieht sich immer zweimal, Kleine."
But people slaughtering animals to eat them is okay?
Humans are nothing more than evolved animals.
In fact humans are worse than animals, humans kill animals to get money out of it while animals only kill for food.
I for one would support it if cannibalism would get legalized.
"Gar nicht so ĂĽbel, du kleine Schlampe. Man sieht sich immer zweimal, Kleine."
Buzzards eat your carcass....
Lol!!!
My ass may be dumb, but I ain't no dumbass...
For my understanding, I think she lied because it's her way to protect the jungle that they were trying to protect in the first place. Remember those parts when her other companions kept telling her about the benefits they could reap of their activity. Like for e.g., the black guy where he let her show the jungle during their plane ride or their schmuck leader stating that he did what he did (where he made a deal with another logging company) in order to be able to implement his plans or as he sees it in a bigger picture. Basically, since all the media were tuning in to her story now, it would be a waste of the opportunity and the death of her companions would be for nothing.
shareAgreed
shareShe did it to preserve the rain forest. If she says the natives killed them all then they would continue with cutting down the rain forest but she says the natives were good to her so it makes people think twice about cutting down the Amazon.
shareSo she lied for the "greater good"? Okay I see the logic there though personally I really really wanted to see the natives genocided.
shareI'm not disagreeing.
shareI'm sure saving some trees will make it up to the other people the cannibals eat, torture, and slaughter

I posted this comment on another thread, but here it is for you:
That's the culture of the village. They aren't evil per se. That's the only thing they've ever known. They're a product of their environment. The villagers killed the activists b/c they felt threatened by them thinking they were part of the corporation that was bulldozing their environment and trying to kill them. --- Remember the scene at the beginning w/ the teacher explaining female circumcision and the teacher explains that's a part of another culture and that it's seen as acceptable there. Same logic.
The main character couldn't forgive that guy and left him, because he simply exploited the villagers to gain fame. He knew that they would get killed and that they would lose their homes, but choose to do so, so that he could get more popular and his organization would as well in the process.
Remember the guy's girlfriend asks the main character if she's doing this for the right reasons and she responds yes. The boyfriend (or the guy left in the cage) wasn't. On top of that, he consciously offered up one of the fellow members as a sacrifice to the tribe.
Justine lied to protect them and what was happening to them.

Aren't liberals just the worst.
I believe in the right to bear arms, as long as my arms are the ones that are being beared.
To push the plot point that Alejandro is now the head honcho. Somehow. As depicted by a satellite photo. Awful
