Why does Justine lie?

Obviously,she tells a pile of non sense because they brought it on themselves, sure they all knew the risks...it's a fight of live...
Also she's " selfish" and yes it's a case of looking out for her needs. And her farther is a lawyer , so god knows how that would endup......if she starts yabbing on about how each person was killed , what is it going to achieve... All families file law suit against cannibal tribes ??????
Nope.... It's best to keep stum and never go there again. Can't change what happened.

The main reason I think of as to why she lied about what happened is because if you think about it, her goal from the start was to help put a end to female genital mutilation aka, (FGM)…
Here’s a little recap: Looking back at the very beginning of the film, when she is in class learning about these tribes and their cultural way of doing things such as FGM; (hence why she wanted to join the group in the first place to make a change when it comes to procedures like this being done.) She knew that if things worked out for the saving the amazon forest project that it would most likely help in effectively making other changes such as to stop FGM. So, once she is finally at the tribe & one of the main things that happens to her is almost the same concept as what was explained in her class room, which makes her able to unfortunately see what it’s like for these women & the pain/suffering they endure during this process. That’s why I believe she lied at the end of the movie about the way things went down while she was at the tribe. - She felt as if she could still make a difference in cultures like this by not telling the truth about what really happened because everyone would look at the tribe as good people for “helping her” & be willing to help in return. Which like I explained earlier, her main goal from the beginning was to hopefully put a stop to FGM. * Just a thought * 😊

Probably, Justine did it because of the "little boy" who helped her to escaped. Maybe, she lied because she didn't want to have a fight with the amazon tribes, it probably will get worst when she tell the truth.
