Apparently it was Daniel’s decision to have Bond killed. The fact that he was a producer as well for this film so I wouldn’t be surprised. Most likely it was Daniel’s decision cos he said on the Graham Norton show that we wanted to do the film on “his terms.”Daniel’s decision to have Bond killed it just shows he’s got a huge ego. It’s like he’s subliminally saying he’s bigger than the Bond franchise and better than the previous actors. Daniel is selfish and doesn’t give a shit about the franchise.
They could’ve easily ended the film with Bond officially retiring at the end and wanting to be with his family. Bond’s death is an insult to the franchise. Bond never dies. Ian Fleming is turning in his grave
Yeah, he apparently clashed with Danny Boyle over killing off Bond because Danny Boyle realised it was a stupid idea.
The whole movie was a letdown and not worth the wait, Sefin is a rubbish villain.
I would have just moved on from Craig rather than indulge him on this. People love James Bond for escapist fun, seeing him killed off seems like it’s something no one but Craig wanted.
I like Craig as Bond but out of his five movies only two have been great.
I can believe this, Daniel Craig is an arrogant selfish twat who seems to hate the character of Bond, after Spectre he famously said he’d rather slit his own wrists than make another 007 movie.
The problem was with Barbara Broccoli who gave him far too much power over the years and paid him obscene amounts of money to keep him, Daniel Craig was never the draw or reason for success of these movies, James Bond always was.
It's just crazy if you think back to when he was cast. He was virtually unknown, think he'd been in Layer cake (?) or something. Plus you had the backlash over his cauliflower ears, Sid James features, etc. They basically handed him his golden ticket.
He was never worthy of the role and if it's true he had a hand in the killing off decision then he's basically spat in the faces of those who even stuck with him because what's left? The daughter they made up for this film?!! Where's the gravitas in a 20+ film series doing that? From what I've read he didn't even die saving her 😂 What kind of joke writing was this...
Yeah she’s been far too attached to Craig as Bond. The success of these movies has always been James Bond first and foremost.
Connery hated some of the ideas for his movies as well (he thought it was ridiculous that Oddjob crushed a golf ball in his hand for example) but they still went ahead with it. Actors sometimes really don’t know anything about good storytelling and need to just focus on their performance.
Pretty much all of the comments here are clearly from people who have read a bunch of shit articles in the media, about what various cast members have been quoted as saying.
Craig having the final say as to the fate of his character? Are you serious? There are about 5 actors on the whole planet who have that sort of power. And Craig is not one of them.
He clashed with Boyle? Really? The fact that people start sentences like this with the word 'apparently' tells you all you need to know. But if it fits with the anti-Craig ranters, it's all good. It's true because it fits their narrative.
I don’t find that difficult to believe at all that he got final say. Of course it’s all rumours and speculation, but you do realise that the idea for killing off Bond was reported on years ago before the movie started filming? Funny how it turned out to be true.
Harrison Ford wanted to kill off Han Solo as well and he got his wish finally, actors can stipulate certain things before signing on to the film.
Craig has been very outspoken about how he didn’t want to come back after Spectre, he broke his leg whilst making it.
Skyfall is the third highest grossing Bond movie adjusted for inflation and the highest grossing since Thunderball in 1965. His Bond lit up the box office, you don’t think the producers might have caved to him to get him to return for one last potential billion dollar movie?
I’m not even anti-Craig, I love Casino Royale and Skyfall and think he was a good choice for this more vulnerable and emotional Bond. But listen to his recent interviews, he’s said ‘NTTD’ is his favourite of the Bond movies he’s been in and he’s thrilled he ‘ended it on his terms’ as he told Graham Norton.
There’s enough there to strongly suggest he loved the idea of killing off Bond, whether he came up with it or not.
...you do realise that the idea for killing off Bond was reported on years ago before the movie started filming?

WTF is this post? How is killing your own character off screen is an ego problem?
All of the things you wrote is just unconfirmed rumours started by low life idiots who can't except that this came out to be a decent bond movie with some brave decisions never seen on the franchise. Deal with it ffs.
A cheap choice rather than bold I'd say. I mean they'd had what 25? Bond films and no previous director had to kill him off to make his mark / make his film stand out.
It's a cheap gimmick the others hadn't touched and the mark of a hack.
Sounds about right. Yeah, Craig was literally in the driver's seat on this one, and what he wanted is what would be done.
Definitely an ego driven decision to kill Bond off. And, it comes across that way, where the star has taken over the writing.
My wife saw the "James Bond Will Return" and said, "How's that going to happen. He's dead." Correct, the character doesn't exist anymore. Just like the other white males killed off like Han Solo, etc. He's gone and that's it. Best if they just stopped the whole Bond thing and started a new spy movie series with new characters.
All the great Bond movies are in the distant past. Move on.
But why did Craig feel the need to kill Bond?? I read somewhere online that Craig chose to kill Bond cos he didn’t want to persuaded to do a sixth film. Couldn’t they have not killed Bond and No Time to Die still would’ve been his last?? Craig is a prick
The best way to not do another Bond is to refuse to do another Bond. Killing off the character simply means that the character doesn't exist anymore. So, Bond 25 was it. I am guessing the ONLY way to get Craig to do this last Bond was to let him decide what was going to happen to his character.
This film just gets on my nerves the more I think about it.
But then why would they put “James Bond will Return” in the end credits?? Also I don’t think No Time to Die will get a lot of repeat value in the future tbh
Cloning is the only answer. They've already talked to George Lucas about using his cloning works as featured in the "Star Wars" prequels. The "new" James Bond should be ready to go by the next movie.
Unfortunately I can’t write him off completely because Casino Royale is so fucking good, and his portrayal of Bond is always great. But as soon as he waded into the producer role he started winding down the action and cranking up the ‘this time it’s personal’ bollocks and the insufferable Woke propaganda, and of course his final coup de grace was killing off the character.
Broccoli shouid have told him to sod off, but she’s too weak.
Most actors would love to play James Bond. This dickhead got the gig then seemed to turn on the character and shat on the fans.
Drooch, yes - there’s some strong irony there. Some of them behind http://www.craignotbond.com must be feeling that they’ve been proved right, albeit in a unexpected way!
And yes, he was a great Bond with two of the greatest films in the series. His ascension to co-producer and alleged decision to kill off Bond is, IMHO, a disappointing move in the series’ history and a very disappointing closure to his otherwise thrilling era.
