Which is worse? Prometheus or Covenant?
I'm curious what your opinion is.
shareI personally loved Prometheus.
I could write for days on the positive qualities it has. But I'll be brief and just say that I was intrigued by the story and the mysterious sci-fi direction it took. I loved the characters especially Shaw and David and was very invested in their story. I'll also say much of the hate that Pro gets is from Aliens fans who were expecting an Alien movie... but in all fairness, they stated early on that it was more of a stand-alone movie set in the same universe than a prequel.
I know many people don't like lost but I personally loved that show and if it hadn't been for taking a chance on it on Netflix I probably would have never watch breaking bad or game of thrones which are some of my favorite shows and content in general. Before that, I was never a TV person. I see the same imprint on Prometheus that I enjoyed with lost I was always on the edge of my seat thinking what's next what's behind the door what is David going to do what's the black gu.
I loved Prometheus so much I had to see Covenant opening weekend..... And it was nothing, not even close to Prometheus... it was garbage, stupid, pointless, and uninteresting. I left Prometheus with so much enthusiasm and questions. I left Cov. with nothing but disappointment and grief that they messed up so bad.
Prometheus 9/10
Covenant 3/10 1 point for David 1 point for Walter and 1 point for great visuals.
I also find it strange that I felt that same about Prometheus and covenant as I do with The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi... Both had creators of Lost involved in the first installment and didn't follow up with it. Just thoughts.

This is exactly how I feel about it as well. Loved Prometheus as a sci-fi film set in the same universe as the Alien films, but not really as a prequel. Sure it has a few problems, but I really enjoyed it. I went and saw Covenant opening weekend because I wanted a sequel to Prometheus which is probably the largest reason as to why I hate Covenant so much. Just a complete mess of a film that craps all over its direct predecessor and all of the Alien films, has cliche horror elements, and is much too predictable. Visually, it is beautiful though.

That's a close call, but I'm going to have to go with Covenant.
😎
Both are OK at best (and that's being kind). Scott shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere near the Alien franchise ever again. I don't really have any confidence in James Cameron these days either so perhaps they should just leave it alone.

The idiocy of Covenant killed my interest in these movies, Prometheus made many mistakes too but at least it looked good.
sharePrometheus.
Covenant is bad but could essentially be fixed with a few screenplay tweaks (and David at least makes for a compelling villain) whereas Prometheus is a botched remake of Alien vs Predator. And I'm being serious: if AVP had only realised it just needed a non sequitur opening, a few random shots of crucifixes and to call itself 'Sisyphus Rex' it too could have gotten a total pass by people who vastly estimate the size of their own IQ.
That would be "vastly overestimate," like what you do with your vocabulary.

Covenant, because after all the deserved crap Prometheus got they decided to go back to yet another alien slasher movie that essentially blended Alien, Aliens and Prometheus. They even gave it back the Alien brand in the title. Still was crap - nothing new to see here. The only way this @#$@show can go forward is to finally got back to what earth looks like in this time, then have the dang aliens show up and wreak havoc on the planet.
shareMan you are so right about all this
