White House Down or Olympus Has Fallen. Take your pick.

Both are so similiar it's not even funny. Both have a good guy who is the eyes and ears while trapped in the white house. They are both NOT in the secret service, but want to be. Both save the president's life by beating the bad guys. Both of the movies have the White House under big time attack. Both have a plot involving nuclear weapons and killing millions of people. Both have a SEAL team in blackhawk helicopters that is sent to rescue the good guys and kill the bad guys, but the mission fails when the choppers get shot down. Both of the movies have a former good guy that turns bad, which sets up the plot. I could go on and on. So which was the better movie out of these? I guess i'll choose "Olympus Has Fallen" because of all the violence, with the mass shooting when the attack went down.

Here's an idea, Royalcouiter; write the screen play and see if it will get a green light.

Personally I found Olympus has fallen to be rather dark and bloody. Whitehouse Down was pretty good, but mostly because I liked the kid in it. She kept a cool head and basically saved the day. Least that's how I saw it.
If I Had to pick it would be White House down. But to be honest the best movie that I've seen that involves terrorists trying to go after the president is Air Force One.

White House Down. That movie makes a little more sense than this twisted BS. After 45 minutes of Olympus, I stopped watching.

Olympus, the kid is less annoying than that girl from White House Down. and the Opening attack is far superior.

I preferred WHD just a bit over OHF. I just felt that the bad guys came to a more satisfying end in WHD. If I had to choose the better movie, though, it would probably be OHF, just in terms of production values. I've sat through them both a couple of times (not in a row!), so I'm guessing that neither are total stinkers. I did like the "hashtag" thing. LOL

Whenever two movies with exactly the same theme get released in a given year, one is usually better or more successful than the other. However, in this case the films were both pretty much even in terms of quality and success. This fact is illustrated by their IMDB ratings of 6.5 and 6.4. Both had their faults, but they both succeeded in being entertaining, popcorn munching fare.
