Better than The Dark Knight Rises
Does anyone else think The Dark Knight Returns is better than The Dark Knight Rises?
I'm prepared to be the minority on this one. Just curious what others think.

YES YES YES! The first two movies of this trilogy(?) has been the most enjoyable batman in a long time.
Rises was crap on a stick.
Not only better than Rises, but also better than TDK, and than any turd Nolan will ever put on screen for that matter.
shareNo, I don't think so. It is an original story, but for me Nolan is the master. Miller is far too pro fascist and the movie reminded me of Robo Cop which is minus. TDK Trilogy for me remains the best Batman series.
shareNope. In my opinion, Under the Red Hood is the best Batman Animated movie ever. But Nolan's trilogy comes above even that.
WANRE or GTFO

shareWithout a doubt the better than Dark Knight Rises.

I have no idea why so much people like TDKRises in my opinion the only good Nolan Batman Movie Nolan made is Batman Begins.
But yes The Dark Knight Returns parts 1/2 were Far Better movies then Nolans Trilogy.
yes !
the only good nolan batman is begins because it is somewhat based on year one, the others are meh, they are not even about batman but more about his psycho enemies
shareNot to rain on your little parade, but isn't that half the appeal of watching or reading anything? The obstacles, or in the case of Batman, enemies he has to overcome to triumph? The other half would of course be the main character's personal journey and how they change throughout the story.
Let's be honest here, Batman going after straight thugs and gangsters with little to no personalities would never be as satisfying as it is to see him going up against a demented clown with a penchant for murdering people in ghastly and horrific displays. There's only so many stories you could do with Carmine Falcone and Salvatore Maroni before you'd be begging for a little deviation to that tired formula.
I do think this was better than TDKR but that doesn't mean it was a bad film. May have been the weakest entry of the trilogy but then again how many people have actually created a second sequel that was of the same caliber, only a handful of people so give Nolan some credit
shareIMO these 2 animated films were enjoyable, but certainly not on the level of TDKR. I found that these two films (Dark Knight Returns Parts 1 & 2) have a lot of plot implausibilities, odd dialogue at times and not much realism. Check out 'brian_allyne's forum post here for details on what I mean; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2166834/board/nest/211820794?ref_=tt_bd_1
Now I completely understand they were based on the comic book and they are merely adapting it (being closer to who Batman was in the comic books than the TDK trilogy), but Nolan's implementation of the Batman universe into a possible real world situation is what made them so appealing to a wide audience in the first place. I can see how a lot of die-had Bat fans who prefer the comic book Batman to Nolan's realistic Batman, but Nolan's approach of putting the caped crusader into our world and making it work as a realistic story within a trilogy is a work of art in itself. Again, I still enjoyed these animated films for what they were; I just still prefer the TDK trilogy to it for the aforementioned reasons.
The dark knight returns is no doubt better than rises. How anyone could think otherwise is beyond me, unless they aren't a batman fan.
