Philip and Elizabeth. Are you rooting for them, against them or

Obviously we are meant to feel for the family. We are meant to hope they accomplish their mission. However, as a patriotic American, I hope they are caught by Stan!

The systematic violence carried out by the KGB and other agencies of the Soviet state were definitely brutal and widespread- but it's important to remember that often the targets were Soviet citizens and agents themselves. The series captures this thin line between spy and traitor really well, such as with Nina.

So I think about the situation Philip and Elizabeth were in- they could get a bullet from the FBI, the CIA, or probably just as likely from a political enemy from their own country. I'm amazed at the close calls and bullets Philip and Elizabeth have dodged over four seasons, what's next?!

I don't want them to succeed (and they obviously won't unless the show changes history and wants to create an alternate reality).

But I don't wish anything bad to happen to them.

The great thing about the show is that it's one of (if not the only) the first piece of American media to give an honest and unbiased depiction of Russian spies. They aren't bad people, they've done bad things but you're fooling yourself if you think America and their spies are any different. They believe what they're doing is for the greatest good, and I can't help but agree with certain aspects of their ideologies.

We all know how it ends and I don't like modern Russia's politics at all, but I still want them to get a happy endings. Especially Elizabeth.

I'm rooting for the family and against their mission/country.. I hope they get out of it

It's obvious a lot of people are rooting for them for one simple reason: even though the actors are supposed to be Russians, they have not a trace of their accent which is unrealistic, and they are white. They have a very natural sounding american accent so in their perception they are middle upper class typical american white couple, the prototype of perfection.
