Philip and Elizabeth. Are you rooting for them, against them or
neutral ?
shareIndifferent.
Once you realize that nothing can/will happen to P/E or Stan the fun is over. There's even not some cat-and-mouse-game going on, because Stan is completely oblivious.
And at first, there was still the possiblity that they would be found out, but with the announcement of 2 final seasons to come, it will be most likely that Stan won't catch them any time soon, while P/E cannot fail so they continue to be succesful with every mission.
I grew actually more interested in the 'expendible' characters, like Nina, Martha, Gaad, Arkady and Oleg. And I liked Young Hee. A lot of good that did me.
Can't agree more that is the problem with any of these tv shows. Once you know who the main cast are, tehy're too safe and it gets predictable and suspense dies down. It's why movies are more exciting.

So yeah, that's how I feel anyways
I'm rooting for them, especially Philip.
There is nothing free except the grace of God
At this point I'm rooting for Elizabeth to take two in the chest and for Philip to defect.
In the meantime, please bring back Martha.
For, so for! Probably because I know they're going to lose, the commie bastards!
Spoiler alert: The Cold War ends with the fall of the Soviet Union.
Carl Grimes will one day rule the world!
Against. Despite moments where they garner our sympathy, their body count - in many cases of entirely innocent people - has been staggering, and they display litle or no remorse. Even people they don't kill are destroyed - Martha (and her parents), the Korean family (a happy, healthy family
torn apart by lies). Liz dropped a car on a man's head just to make a job opening! Phil strangled a man on an airport shuttle just to leave no trace - and it was all for nothing.
Don't forget that every victim leaves behind devastated families we never even see.

Specifically, the "all for nothing" referred to the vial the pilot refused to transport because he was too nervous, so that murder of a poor working stiff was truly for nothing, not even a move in the chess game.
At least the show does occasionally show the repercussions on the secondary victims - such as getting glimpses of Martha's parents' grief and bewilderment.
I presume that was tongue in cheek about the "capitalist pigs." If anything, the victims have been low on the scale of capitalism: secretaries, blue collar workers, etc. They never seem to touch the plutocrats. Unless you count one lonely, elderly woman working late at night in a family business - and that one upset even Elizabeth.
Definitely against. For instance, I was completely rooting for the gay ex military guy in S2. I knew he wouldn't win and I didn't want him to win but only because I didn't want the show to end.
For them (as a family).
Mostly because there are no innocent sides. They are just one side of the same medal and even though bogus and fictitious, it's a nice interpretation of an era.
Totally agree, there are no good or bad guys, i'm pretty sure the USA spies have done the same atrocious things in the name of patriotism.
shareAgainst.
I like the show and want it to continue, but I hope when it does end.....it is a relatively unhappy one for them.
