So what would you rate it out of 10?
I want to see it badly it looks amazing but i'm curious to see what other's would rate it and why.

I absolutely adored it! While I'd probably only score it an 8.5/10, it really earns every single one of those points. It's one of the rare movies that kept creeping back into my mind even a week after I'd seen it; couldn't stop thinking about it. The animation really is beautiful, coupled with some heartwarming scenes that really go together to create one of my favorite 'coming-of-age' films. I highly recommend it if you're are into 'slice-of-life' stories or Japanese Animation! Easily my favorite non-Studio Ghibli film.
The only negative I could really give it (without spoiling it) is that I would've liked to have gotten a bit more closure on one of the children at the end, and that some parts of the film came across as a little predictable. But that's just a personal nitpick.
I'll be buying the Bluray as soon as I can!
Also, if you enjoy this film, you should check out 'Grave of Fireflies'.

I will definitely see this soon probably on dvd when it comes out. Grave of the fireflies is something i can't bring myself to watch actually.

Fair enough. Grave of Fireflies is certainly a harder film to watch for some people, especially compared to this.
Also, don't forget to let us know what you thought of this film when you eventually get to watch it. As someone stated elsewhere on this board, more people need to know about this film!

I will! oh and what's your favorite anime movie so far? Mine's Princess Mononoke.

Sadly, I have not seen many anime films yet, so while I have seen a few (not nearly enough), I am by no means a veteran of the genre. I have seen Princess Mononoke... a long, LONG time ago. I remember it being rather good, but didn't fall in love with it at the time, so I really do need to see it again.
Of the ones I HAVE seen, it'd probably have to be Grave of Fireflies. I also really enjoyed Ghost in the Shell and I LOVE the Death Note series. I also enjoyed some segments from Animatrix.
The ones I still need to watch are: Spirited Away, Ghost in the Shell 2.0, Akira (after I finish the manga), Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Howls Moving Castle.
If you can recommend any more, feel free to!

if you haven't seen Hosoda's other films such as Summer Wars and the Girl Who Leapt Through Time I'm sure you'd enjoy those as well. Can't go wrong with most of the films from Studio Ghibli's library either. If you liked some of the shorts out of The Animatrix you could try Batman Gotham Knight and Halo Legends which are done in the same vein of The Animatrix. I know Warner Bros. has the Halo Legends shorts up on YouTube and you don't have to be into the Halo games to really understand it either they do a pretty good job of appealing to fans and non fans alike.
shareThanks for your reply, and many thanks for your recommends! I have actually seen Gotham Knight (free DVD with pre-order of Arkham City game) but I haven't seen Halo Legends, while I have played all the games, never was a huge fan of the universe but I'll check them out if they are on Youtube. As for Gotham Knight, I don't remember a whole lot... I liked some of the different animation styles on show but found the short-story presentation harder to get into than Animatrix (I may need to re watch).
I still really want to see the Girl Who Leapt Through Time, heard many good things. Only trouble is that I live in a small rural town and the video store here has VERY limited selection with regards to Jap Anime, and doesnt have that particular one. But I can get it on itunes so will watch soon.
Since my original reply I have managed to see both Spirited Away and just finished watching Howls Moving Castle. While I enjoyed the latter, Spirited Away was by far the more engrossing watch for me (I left a more detailed response on the films actual Board)
Next up I have Arietty and Ponyo to watch (both Ghibli). Will try to hunt down Summer Wars too if I can.
Why is the Wolf always bad?

I'd rate it a very strong 7/10.
There's a good chance on a 8/10 after a 2nd viewing.

Summer Days With Coo is a great, albeit long movie.

Barefoot Gen is harder to watch than Grave of the Fireflies
My momma loved me but she died
Hud Bannon
I would say at least a 7/10.
It ended up being a slice-of-life movie with a very strong twist. I thought there were a lot of missed opportunities with the wolf aspects, though. Particularly, more animal instincts blending with the human world.
They could have easily added more action with the wolf children as well. Some kind of scuffle with a boar or something would have been a nice touch.
I've only seen the film once--and in English, mind--but I would rate it a solid 9. Maybe on a repeat viewing it might creep up to a 10. I thought it was amazing.
shareI enjoyed Wolf Children but compared to the other two Mamoru Hosoda movies, it was more on the sadder side. I loved Summer Wars, really liked The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and liked Wolf Children. I do own all three on Blu Ray and eagerly await anything Mamoru Hosoda does in the future.
share9/10
Just one word: masterpiece
"When it melts, what does snow become? It becomes ... spring!"- Honda Tohru
9.2/10
The Angels Have the Phone Box
10/10
It has no real flaws, does it?
No real flaws, no. There are a couple points where the voice acting could be just a little better, and a couple of unnecessary scenes.
I would rate it a 10.5/10 if I could, but ten is the limit. It is simply, to elaborate on what one other commenter has said, a masterpiece of both storytelling and animation.
- Dark Reality
Maybe I need to rewatch- but I felt the film had flaws.
The ending was a bit flat, and some scenes were humorously melodramatic.
just watch it and it's an easy 9/10. Truly remarkable movie. It's a much, much more mature than Hosoda's previous works. Love it, and i can't wait for another work from Mr. Hosoda and studio Chizu!
share9/10 this is one of the best animated movies i have ever seen
