Not perfect, but a fun sequel!

Just got back from the early access screening. It was very enjoyable despite having flaws and not being as good as the first. Keaton is having a blast and the rest of the cast did great. It's very funny, but manages to be even more weird and grotesque than the original. The story was enjoyable, but overstuffed and a lot of things got rushed towards the end. It's probably the best work Burton has done from a directional stand point from the 2000's. Much better than most sequels that come out years after their predecessors.

Great, I hope there is one more after this. Maybe there will be a directors cut to slow things down with extended scenes or deleted parts.

reply

Sounds encouraging, at least.

reply

Thanks for the short review.

reply

I agree. This was fun. Although not quite as good as the original, this is an entertaining and enjoyable sequel.

I saw it tonight with my family and we had a great time; the cinema was sold out.

I've read multiple reviews, including yours, of being overstuffed and of multiple storylines not given time to manifest. And i'm remembering years ago when this all started the rumblings of it being a TV series, not a movie. I think they shot a TV series, realized the hype and money potential, and made it into a movie instead.

reply

This is very likely true, and explains why the movie is such an overstuffed mess. I have no doubt this is what happened.

reply

Oh, I didn't know this.

I want to research this possibility now.

reply

That's interesting. I hadn't heard that.

reply

I just saw it and it was great! Really liked it. Now I am watching an episode of the cartoon from my DVD set of it.
