At 5.9, it's currently the lowest rated IMDb score for a best picture Oscar nominated film since 1934.
The more I hear about how bad it is, it makes me want to watch it more.

shareOn Rotten Tomatoes the audience rating has dropped to 24% (76%Rotten)
That's the point of "there is no negative advertising".
All the ones who feel the need of pointing out how bad it is are literally advertising it, giving it more viewers.
I've seen it myself, didn't like it either because I'm generally no fan of musicals, still I got curious about it from seeing it mentioned here.
Not when I'm going to illegally download it.
shareThen you're still a viewer.
shareYeah, but they want us to pay for it.
shareThe stuff that has the most illegal copies is the by far most valuable, simply because more people know about it and talk about it, which is all free advertising to the producers and will lead to more sales to paying customers.
Don't remember which episode it was, but there was a Starwars movie that was available for download a month or so before it came out in the cinemas, and it has made its money for the producers.
I'm a customer at Vimeo, where they offer movies for sale including download option where most of them don't exist as illegal copies, because it's not worth it for the uploaders making copies of something you can download for very little money from the original source.
On the other hand there isn't a thing on Netflix or Prime that isn't available as illegal download as well, because Netflix and Prime do not offer a download option.
Still Netflix and Prime have far more customers than Vimeo will ever have and the movies sold on Vimeo are mostly unknown.

Maybe he should have compared it to movies of which there are no illegal copies, you know, movies that have remained largely unknown because all the millions of pirated copies never existed and the ones who would have viewed them but couldn't, never talked about them.
shareI just watched it out of curiosity too. I didn't HATE it, I mean it's well made and well shot, has really cool cinematography. But the songs are terrible. I guarantee more people would like if it WEREN'T nominated for the big Oscars.
shareI more or less agree with this.
I also thought it zipped along quite nicely. I was mostly entertained. Kind of a strange mix of over-earnestness and irreverence.
Does it deserve its thirteen Oscar nominations? I say no. Does it deserve the social media backlash against its thirteen Oscar nominations? I also say no. Both sides of the argument are getting over-excited. Again.
It's that "penis to vagina" song that cracks me up every time.
shareI remember feeling like that about FANT4STIC but I managed not to cave.
sharekate mara is hawt
shareTrump wasnt impeached.
It should win an Oscar in the "Picture So Bad It's Good" category.
share5.8 and dropping
shareI just checked the IMDb search. Out of 614 films nominated for best picture, it has the 607th highest IMDb score. And what's even funnier is that the 7 movies that are rated lower, 4 of them have less than 1000 votes and one of those 4 doesn't have any votes at all because the film is nowhere to be found.
