What is Battle Royale?

It's so funny, prior to The Hunger Games, I doubt one person in a thousand had ever heard of Battle Royale. Now, thanks largely to the trolls, it's probably become very popular for the first time ever.

BR trolls, you should thank Suzanne Collins and The Hunger Games for giving your little troll movie a bit of a lift.

I intend to live forever.
So far, so good.

I personally am a fan of foreign films (I'm American) so I knew very well of BR's existence as a film (as it came out in 2000 and I saw it in 2005).

I enjoy Original films made overseas (even if they're derived from a particular source material) but then America steps in to make the same movie.

I won't complain about THG here. But "Let Me In"... "Oldboy", The Grudge, The Ring, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Admittedly wasn't bad) etc.

American's need to just stop messing with great cinema and at least take notes on them. Not copy them.

I actually heard of it before the Hunger games believe it or not.

In Europe Battle Royale is very popular since years ago.

It is a very good film in its own right, that, other than being concerned with young people being forced by the government to kill each other, bears no resemblance at all in tone, ideas, or construct to The Hunger Games.

Peace.

That had not occurred to us, Dude.
