How can Lawrence be so unprofessional?

I just read this in the Trivia section: "Jennifer Lawrence's penchant for snacking on Doritos chips on set caused her to stain and nearly ruin several dresses. The wardrobe department compensated by making several duplicate dresses for her to use throughout the production so she would always have a clean one to wear."

Now, my question is: how can she be so unprofessional? For me it's difficult to understand how such a young actress is allowed such behaviour. One thing is having eccentric requests, such as I want my camerino painted in blue, but another is engaging in such attitudes that affect the work process. I would understand that from an older actor/actress who has some well-earned prestige and doesn't give a damn any more for whatever the reason. But a young actress who is just starting her career (despite her Oscar)?

The only reasonable explanation that comes to my mind is that she was too much into her character (I can perfectly imagine Rosalyn doing all this crap) that the director had to accept all that mess in order to get an over-the-top performance. Or else, she's just become a spoiled girl due to her early success. And that'd be a pity...

...how ? Because she SUCKS.

Jennifer Lawrence takes hunger pretty seriously, it's not just a game to her. 😼

Jennifer Lawrence eats snacks!? HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! Such AUDACITY! Who does she think she is????

"Whether I left society or it me I cannot say. I suppose you could make an argument for both sides."

messy snacks that ruin expensive costume pieces? Yeah that sounds pretty unprofessional to me. I mean, come on, nothing wrong with taking snack breaks but how hard is it to choose something that's not gonna get everywhere?

They always have multiple pieces of costume, in case anything happens, like ripping or staining.

In making the movie American Graffiti in 1972, the movie takes place over one night. Everyone wore the same thing in every scene. They were vintage pieces. Ron Howard wore a blue plaid shirt, the first time the shirt was washed the colors ran & ruined the shirt. They only had 2 of them, one to wear, one to wash, and switch.

He had to wear the same shirt for the rest of the shoot, about 6 weeks. He could not eat or drink with it on, he took it off whenever possible, and changed his t-shirt a lot.

They had already shot some scenes, and didn't have the budget to reshoot because of one shirt.

I will cut her some slack. Because in my life, people have whined or raged about something I did, making it sound much worse than it was, causing me to shriek

"I did that ONCE, for God's sake!!!"

I'm not a big fan of her's, pretty much have only liked her in the David O Russell movies but this is nowhere on the spectrum of unprofessional in the acting world. She shows up, maybe ruined one or two dresses by accident which happens, and she didn't feud with other actors because she thought she deserved a better part. Read about what you actually have to do to get blacklisted, Lindsay Lohan or Sean Young stories would be a good start or even actors like Val Kilmer or the bat *beep* crazy stuff Brando did on his mid 90's films. She's talented, seems to show up on time, is great at promoting her stuff on the talk show circut and is a box office draw, they will tolerate small eccentricities such as eating Doritos. What ever the cost is of replacing or having multiple of those dresses is made up in box office receipts.

Shes ok, but an oscar??? when they gave her an oscar, for me it was the end of it. Oscar Schmoscar.

reply

I don't know why people obsess over the Oscars. The rational way to assess things is to look at the aggregate of recognition a performance gets. And it turns out she pretty much swept up almost every single conceivable award for that category. This means there was a solid consensus among critics and film organizations that her performance was the best that year.

How in the flying faaaack is snacking on Doritos "unprofessional"? You sound like a tool.

I think this is just a product endorsement, nothing more. Chill.
