How can Lawrence be so unprofessional?

I just read this in the Trivia section: "Jennifer Lawrence's penchant for snacking on Doritos chips on set caused her to stain and nearly ruin several dresses. The wardrobe department compensated by making several duplicate dresses for her to use throughout the production so she would always have a clean one to wear."

Now, my question is: how can she be so unprofessional? For me it's difficult to understand how such a young actress is allowed such behaviour. One thing is having eccentric requests, such as I want my camerino painted in blue, but another is engaging in such attitudes that affect the work process. I would understand that from an older actor/actress who has some well-earned prestige and doesn't give a damn any more for whatever the reason. But a young actress who is just starting her career (despite her Oscar)?

The only reasonable explanation that comes to my mind is that she was too much into her character (I can perfectly imagine Rosalyn doing all this crap) that the director had to accept all that mess in order to get an over-the-top performance. Or else, she's just become a spoiled girl due to her early success. And that'd be a pity...

I agree. I don't think anyone should get away with that. I'm a huge fan of hers but it's a bit ridiculous

A. That's a completely idiotic way of comparing pay.
B. You are also comparing her to the wrong people. You should be comparing her pay to that of Renner’s and in that case she was certainly underpaid. Amy Adams even more so than her.

Christian Bale and Brad Cooper spent much more time on the set. Bale worked 45 days for $2.5 million while Cooper worked 46 days for $2.5 million. No you're being idiotic. Working it out on a day to day basis is the perfect way of comparing actors salaries, since obviously it advantages an actor to get paid more for less hours, freeing them up to work on other high paid work or to spend time with family, friends ie at leisure.

It's not a gender issue, but she makes it one by singling out her male co-stars and not mentioning Amy Adams who worked longer for less money. Its just Lawrence being a young selfish drama queen unwilling to pay her dues. Renner is an actor that has worked for 2 decades. Bale starred in a film called Empire of the Sun in the mid 80s. He STARRED in a movie 3 decades ago. Thats paying your dues, and he was paid less for his time than Lawrence. How is that fair on his developing his talent for so long? Lawrences stars in just ONE movie and already is asking for a massive payrise (from 50k on Winter's Bone - standard pay for an indie movie starring role, to 800k on American Hustle. She complained and got a pay rise to 1 million. She pouted again and got even more money, totalling 1.5 million). What a childish Diva. Pay your dues, shut your mouth and learn your lines and earn your pay. Be a professional. Same goes for both genders.

Yes Amy Adams deserved more pay than Lawrence based on days and based on much greater starring experience than Lawrence, which is why sooky Lawrence shouldn't complain! Also referring to Bale and Cooper as her "co stars" as though she is of equal or higher stature in the movie cast list is ridiculous. She is fifth in line on the cast list. They are the stars. She is has a more minor role. What a Diva.

Oh come on, have a heart. She only got paid eleventy billion dollars for this movie, that's barely enough to buy a few houses. Give the poor girl a break, she needs her doritos to keep her strength up. Acting is such a demanding job after all.

She still lives with her parents. She's an idiot, stardom got to her head and now she's acting out. I don't find her acting all that great, she plays a good early 20 something character, that's because she is one. Other than that, she can't be cast for anything else. I thought she was so weak in X-Men- Days of Future Past, that's because she had to play a mutant.

I doubt eating chips would cause the kind of stains they'd really have to worry about. The crew is clearly overreacting if they think one chip particle somewhere ruins the whole shot or something. So, if anything, Lawrence is just being normal while everyone else is being a primadonna.

From all the stories I have read and the DVD extras I have seen, it is very common for Actors to work 12-16 hour days every day for months on end. If she wants to eat some Dorito's during takes to satisfy her hunger cravings, then let her eat some chips.

I really don't see the big deal. I don't see that as her being stuck up or anything like that. I hear stories all the time how actors barely get any breaks during shooting and I think that is unfair.

Sure they are getting paid millions, but they are still human. The longer humans go without food, the less energy they have and the more cranky they get. It would not surprise me if they forced her to work long hours and she said "screw it, I am going to eat whenever I have the chance".

mrpops that would either be television where the pace is much faster or fantasy films that require extensive makeup. Movies like this one, they show up less than half the time and are hiding in their trailers for the most bit.

I agree she is being unprofessional; you'd never hear stuff like that from Amy Adams or Bale.

You're wrong. Have you ever worked on a movie set? I have and the days are very long and very strenuous, for both the cast and the crew. Actors don't get to hide in their trailers for most of the day, either. It's true they have days off when they don't have scenes to shoot but when you have a big part, you're there almost all the time.

It makes no difference to me whether actresses are "difficult". But in the annals of "difficult" on-set behavior by actresses eating Doritos just doesn't rank that high up there. Would it be better if she went hungry and yelled and snapped at people?
