next ‘PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN’ movie will officially be a reboot

I hope the public collectively gives Disney the middle finger.

It doesn't seem like Johnny Depp has been uncancelled as far as the big Hollywood studio go, btw. Despite the mountain of evidence on his side. Not just what appeared in his trial, but more that wasn't allowed over legal technicalities. There's a recording made the night the tip of his finger was cut off by Heard. You can hear her screaming in the background, claiming it was an accident.

I never got people who thought Depp was the big star of the series.
The actor that stole every scene and the reason everyone loved potc series is Geoffrey Rush. You cannot get someone more pirate'y than Barbossa.
I cannot think of a scene that he didnt steal.

Second thing i likek about original potc trilogy was not focusing on one character, or artificially inserting backstories(wtf is that bullshit about young jack or barbossa's daughter? The only reason barbossa's daughter subplot remotely worked is because rush is a great actor). All was left intentionally vague. It was the plot that drove things, actors were only pieces on the board. Thats why part 4 and 5 sometimes sound so cringey.

Give depp, rush, knightley,bloom limited but impactful roles gravitating an ensemble cast and a good script and you can have a good movie.

And it'll fall flat like all their other movie bombs, particularly when we find out they put a black chick in as a the star, made her gay, and made the story lame.

I only liked the first one because Sparrow wasn't the main character. That being said, I don't want a reboot. I don't want another sequel. I want Disney to have another original idea one of these days, not like they ever were famous for original ideas, but at least adapt a different book or story. There are so many out there which might make good movies.

I thought it was Depp that decided to not come back to the franchise. Shame, the film probably would have made bank as he did. As for the reboot, I am not optimistic.

How many have there been already, anyways?
It was already turning into Fast and Furious - Depp or no Depp.

Stop rehashing old material - though I'm sure they'll turn this one female/trans/etc - lol

I am so excited for this movie. I wish they put one out every 2 years.
