Is this the way people would REALLY act?
Just asking.
Many movies like this show everyone pulling together to survive.
This is human nature gone berserk!

You mean when people start breaking into stores? Yes, that really happened here after the earthquake.
shareIn Chile people gathered, talked, drank and tried to call everyone on the collapsed cellphone network, that is it.
Then days later, and only in the areas worst hit by the earthquake where there was no water, food, nor roads to deliver them or electricity there was looting as once could expect from those extraordinary situations.
Its a movie people.
Now if it were Argentina... you wouldnt need an earthquake to start the looting.

Yes, people will pull together to survive when necessary. Others will take advantage and try to just help themselves. But long term depends on the mentality of the people. Sociopaths would come together if necessary to help each other but then probably screw each other over as soon as the emergency abated. So for the most part self-preservation will usually lead to humans pulling together until they can screw each other over. If humans didn't we couldn't survive this long. Think of it like how US and Soviet Union worked together against the Axis but when the emergency was over they turned on each other.
- Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.
My family are Chilean, and the answer to your question is yes, they behave this way all the time, especially during protests, earth quakes, during dictatorship, etc... Chileans love a good riot, they'll start one for any occasion. I'm just glad I was never born down there, I've seen the worst in them during my visits and it's embarrassing.

I'm from the Philippines and when typhoon Haiyan struck, reports came in about bandits and escaped prisoners raping women and looting homes.
They were never confirmed though but watching the movie made me feel so uncomfortable. Hit me close to home :(
You ask if "people" would really act this way, as though there is one single way that people would act when they are instantly thrust into a life or death situation, when there is chaos and panic all around, and there is a high level of danger and chance of being immediately crushed or killed in a hundred different ways.
I've never been in that level of hysteria, but I've been in unexpected, challenging circumstances, and I will tell you that people always act differently from one another, no matter what the circumstances.

For those making those Racist remarks about a certain race.If the disaster is big and bad enough where there is hardly no food, water or medicine, people from all races would be looting and doing everything else under the sun to take things back to their families.Every Race have bad people that are selfish and only think of themselves, and Every Race have good people that are unselfish. No one can say what you wouldn't do because when the suffering get really bad and your family is suffering and dying around you,you would do just about anything to stop it.Just look at a lot of the disaster shows and movies like(The Walking Dead (TV series)(The Road (2009 film)(The Colony (2013 film)(Alive (1993 film)(Tooth and Nail (2007 film)! These movies are prime examples at how people would act whether you are black, white, red or yellow?
The approval of the Lord matters more than
the applause of men.
No, I don't think so. This is how we are told by the media that people behave during a disaster, but it's not the truth.
