Are Millennials and Gen Z even in to Westerns?

Question above. Trying to understand the reason behind this not making money.

reply

They're not. The demographics for this were revealed, 47% of attendees were 55+ years of age. That's an insane skew, it's largely why it's doing poorly. Teenagers and young adults aren't interested.

reply

I saw it last weekend and my wive and I were the youngest people in the theater. :)

reply

Must be nice feeling young again Mrmojo. I have to ask, was the audience well behaved, being so old and all? (Teens normally get the blame for rowdy audiences that ruin the experience.)

One of the better audiences I had at a theatre was for Midsommar (2019). A hipster horror movie, not many were in attendance. Everyone was attentive and you could hear a pin drop (save for one instance when some poor woman groaned when a particularly gory scene happened).

In comparison Halloween (2018) was a disaster. A bunch of fucking idiots were at that one! Practically ruined the movie.

reply

I’d say it was closest to your Midsommar experience, with the only interruptions being the occasional boomer going to the restroom. :)

reply

Must have been at the same theatre I was with Halloween. Lol. I watched it opening day and the teenager and preteens talked loudly throughout it and half even started filing the movies with their iPhones. It was one of the worst experiences I had.

reply

Maybe if they stuck Chris Evans in the movie.

reply

or Chris Hemsworth

reply

Definitely not that Christ Pratt though. His Western outing in that remake of Magnificent Seven was not terrific.

reply

then we can agree on Chris Pine for the role

reply

I'm an elder millennial & love Westerns but may be in the minority.

reply

I hate Westerns, bord 1977!

reply

Needs like Taylor Swift as the hooker, Nick Jonas as the love interest or something. They also need to hiphop the music and black people doing gang signs while riding on dem hos erm horses.

reply

I'm just barely a Millennial--I was almost Gen X but didn't quite make it--and I love westerns. I didn't really develop an appreciation for them until I turned 30, though.

I went and saw the film so it's failure is not my fault.

reply

No they are generally too slow.

reply

It's too hot! My car ain't got no AC. I'm not sweating to death to endure a 3 hour movie. Booo! Release your movie on Thanksgiving you Boner Garage!
