..be in a hospital and Maverick will visit him for one last goodbye, saying something like "Say hello to Goose for me"

He is a throat cancer survivor and an operation has affected his breathing and given him a raspy voice.

He is listed as playing Vice Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky in this movie.

My question is, wtf is wrong with his legs? I saw a few tmz segments of him walking with friends - he can barely walk these days. I begin to wonder if he may have also suffered from a stroke.

Nah, I doubt they kill him off. They'll try to make him look as good as possible.

But I question the wisdom of bringing Val back at all. As you said, he does not look well these days. However, I can appreciate the filmmakers' loyalty to a key cast member of the first film and an actor who seems like he needs a helping hand.

I thought he and Iceman became a couple at the end of Top Gun. It wasn't said directly, but they gave that impression.
