Why is it...

...that almost all coming-of-age films seem to focus on young boys? What about girls? As far I can think right now, few, if any, such films seem to have a girl as the focus. Can anyone name any? I really felt for Duncan, as I was the introverted type of teen, and am still that way as an adult. And yes, I am a woman. And I really loved this film.

well like someone else said, a lot of them tend to be romantic comedies, i know one i watched more recently which wasn't particularly brilliant was Girl in Progress, worth a watch if you've got nothing else though.

Lying is a good one!!!!

The reality is boys will not go see a film about a girl. Girls will see movies about boys.

I highly suggest you watch 'Muriel's Wedding', it's rather dated I think 90s but it's what you're looking for absolute classic and it's the movie that inspired the ABBA musical 'Mamma Mia' because they use songs from Abba in the soundtrack (it's not a musical by any means). You've gotta see it.

I saw it years ago and didn't like it. Haven't seem "Mamma Mia," though.
