Why is a cuban playing a white person
Don't make no sense
shareWell, the other side is upset that Franco is playing Fidel :D
shareDe Armas is a Cuban of Spanish descent and Franco is an American of Portuguese descent. (half Portuguese) Portugal is right next to Spain
shareYeah, and neither Portugal neither Spain are next to Cuba ;)
Or at least that’s why people are upset, you don’t really expect people to know that Fidel is of Spanish descent …
Most Latinos (mixed race mestizos/morenos included) identify as white on paper anyway. They only play the "minority", "person of color" game when it's politically convenient. I believe Armas is of Spanish descent, so she is European & thus white according to current U.S. racial classifications. Her Spanish ethnic background might not align with Mayln Manroe's decidedly English/Scottish but that has never mattered before with casting. I think her thick accent is the only real issue, the same way casting Antonio Banderas as JFK would be weird. I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow digitally "enhanced" her voice in post-production, or had it entirely re-dubbed by another actress like the situation with Gina Carano in Haywire.
shareHuh, I didn't know they dubbed Carano in Haywire.
shareThe back of his head looks like a ducks ass.
shareShe's white.
shareYou win "retard of the month". Cuban is not a race!
shareCubans can be white, black, NA or mixed of any of the 3.
