Why all the American hate?

I've been to California twice (in late 2012 and early 2013) and been treated incredibly well every place I went. (I'm Chinese).

Perhaps California is a bad example, but I'm astounded by the level of hate at Americans in general, almost as if they're breeding the next Hitler.

From clerks to car-wash attendants to cashiers, I've had nothing but friendly greetings and impeccable service. Obviously, it wouldn't be realistic to say it was PERFECT, but generally I can't recall a single event where I was peeved enough to keep it in my memory banks. In fact, I was extremely impressed.

I've studied in Australia for close to 8 years and though there are many friendly people as well, I don't think it's close to the level I found while in America. Yet people just unabashedly love the Aussies.

Frankly, I think Americans have let themselves become whipping boys for far too long.

Can you please stop saying AMERICA??? IT'S THE USA AND NOT AMERICA. I'M *beep* TIRED AND PUT OUT THAT USA CITIZENS (PLUS APPARENTLY CHINESE PEOPLE TOO) CALL THEIR COUNTRY WITH THE NAME OF THEIR CONTINENT, AS THOUGH THERE WEREN'T ANY OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE ACTUAL ONLY PLACE CALLED AMERICA I KNOW: WHICH IS A CONTINENT CALLED AMERICA.anYWAY, if they like the *beep* word AMERICA, they can say NORTH AMERICA, but never AMERICA, *beep* nazis.

Because it's basically that whole "one or two bad apples ruins the whole barrel" thing. Just like all countries, America has people who make everyone else look bad.

We've got stereotypes and whatnot as well as really racist, religious, prejudice, ignorant, and prideful people who stand out the most, but really aren't all Americans.

A lot of us are just normal people.

I'm American, but I'm not proud of it. I like living in Oregon, where we have more trees than people and are one of the few states to be more into freedom and tolerance of all people and whatnot. I don't like my government, think a lot of our laws are dumb, I don't like the ridiculous American pride, because our country isn't all that amazing and I don't like how ignorant people can be. I hate war and the fact that we treat our soldiers and veterans like crap. I hate how the healthcare system works and same for taxes and how kids are treated badly and education is seen as less important than sports. I hate how our elderly and disabled and mentally handicapped people are treated. In general, we may have good things, but we have lots of bad things, too.

The states are actually better as single units than the country as a whole. That's how people should view Americans. I try my hardest to learn about the world and have taken language classes and culture classes and done all I can to look beyond my country. Not everyone in America is bad. Some of us literally just want to live life and be happy like everyone else in the world does.

You met what there are mostly in America. Good solid folks who just want to live their lives. The racist haters are a minority that are trying to push their twisted agenda. Usually these people have low self esteem or are conspiracy theorists that want everyone to follow them in their infantile hatred.
