To be playing Juliet. Let's be honest. She looks like a boy with make up and a wig sometimes. Those muddy small eyes... not a Juliet in my opinion.

she wasnt ugly, she just didnt understand Shakespeare-she was truly terrible and Romeo wasn't much better-thats why the movie failed so terribly-sad-you cant fake Shakespeare

She was so good in True Grit, it's hard to imagine that she really fails as miserably as people say.

Compared to the horsefaced Rebecca Saire and the chubby-cheeked Olivia Hussey, she's about par for the course of Juliets since the latter half of the 20th century. At least she's not 30. Besides, I'd rather have somebody who can act the part over somebody who looked perfect, yet, couldn't say her lines.

OK, so, she's a pretty lady, but, in some shots, I believe she was bloated. Maybe it was a day-to-day water retention issue.
If the other posters are correct about this latest one's lack of talent, Hussey's still the best screen Juliet we have had.

I understand you defending Hailee but at the expense of Hussey? Hussey was without a doubt the most beautiful & ethereal Juliet. She does not have chubby cheeks, but just in case you're unaware, youth is characterized by having a fuller face rather than the gaunter look at the onset of old age. Look at the difference of Reese Witherspoon's face in Legally Blonde 1 & 2.

Considering the fact that boys in makeup and wigs are the people that used to play women on stage in the age this story is from, I fail to see the problem.
