sharewhen numbers came out last weekend i thought it was still only a 50/50 proposition that this would pass titanic world-wide.
but i think it's more like 80-90% confidence it will do that now.
The mid-week holds are waning, but the weekends are still strong. And they've already extended PFT showings, but I'll be curious to see when it will be scheduled for Disney+. It was 83 days exclusive for BP2, but this one should get more of a run.
sharei may be slightly off on some of my assumptions - i think china is basically off the table after this week, so international numbers may have more of a decline than i've worked in.
but it should hit $2b next weekend, and if it has fairly 'normalish for avatar' declines week over week until that antman film comes out, i see it being around 2.2b - 2.25b by feb 17th.

& then it will probably still carry on for good a spell after that.
i'm not nostradamus or an box office expert, but i think the numbers are there, unless it hits steeper weekend declines, & i don't think there's any reason to see that happening.
Yeah, and when you adjust for inflation it becomes moot anyway. Titanic, and the first Avatar, are at a different level.
shareyeah, in particular the titanic numbers really are crazy.
i saw this past weekend that way of water had the 2nd biggest unadjusted 5th weekend of all time.
it just barely beat titanic's 5th weekend, which is mental, really.
titanic made $30m domestically on weekend #5, which is just a wee bit less than wow's.
not sure what that would mean adjusted, but it must be very close to or greater than the original avatar.
