I just watched the trailer and...

Is this supposed to be admirable or something?

So this guy gets an engagement ring for his girlfriend and mistakenly has it swapped with another gift (earrings or something) that another character bought for his girlfriend. Somehow Guy #1 backtracks into town and finds Girlfriend of Guy #2 and falls in love with her. In what universe is this admirable? They're both cheating on their partners here.

What's the message here? He was clearly motivated enough to buy a fkin wedding ring; accidentally losing it has him ready to throw away his entire engagement for a serendipitous stranger?

Only in Hollywood.

Go watch a Kirk Cameron assembly or something. Sounds like an awesome idea for a movie. I’m in!

While not a great movie, it is a bit more complicated than that--you'd have to actually watch the full movie to get the story, otherwise why would anyone watch anything but the trailer for any movie?

(There's also no cheating whatsoever.)

I get what you are talking about, but they do not cheat at all. In the movie they remain faithful to their partners even in the face of difficult circumstances, and only end up together after those relationships ended due to unrelated reasons.
