so i post over at the sunny board all the time but i do love workaholics and when i asked this question there people thought the two shows don't even come close. does anybody here who watches both shows think workaholics is better?
shareOh this is a complete and total no brainer for me. Always Sunny is WAY better than Workaholics. Always Sunny is absolutely hilarious and the characters have stayed true to the who they are but there still has been some character building. The characters in Workaholics are very inconsistent and have been devolving. I've enjoyed watching Workaholics but it's only been on for 4 seasons and it's been noticeably going down the drain for 2 of those seasons. Always Sunny is coming up on 10 seasons and it's still great and there's really only an episode or two during it's entire run that I haven't cared for.

There's no contest. Sunny is so much better that Workaholics. I like Workaholics but there are times when it's just so over the top that it's hard for me to watch.

Why is there a need for a comparison when there is none, besides they're both comedy shows? By that logic you could say that Sunny rips off Seinfeld in the sense that all the characters are unlikeable over the top *beep* who hang out at the same spot and get caught up in awkward situations.
Sunny is contrived, linear and by the book, every laugh is expected, every plot structure predictable.
Workaholics seems mostly improvised dialogue, the plot is loose at best and the characters are more relatable. It might not work all the time, but when it does, it's hilarious.
Both shows are nothing out of this world.
I tried desperately to get into Workaholics. It just seems like the kind of show I'd love. But I watched most of season 1 and gave up. I didn't laugh once. The characters are extremely unlikable, and the humor just didn't work for me.
Sunny is the better show, in my opinion.
The day when buying music, movies and TV shows goes completely digital is the day I go postal.
For me, it's Workaholics. I can relate to a bunch of guys right out of college living together and working for the weekend in entry-level jobs.
And, I like the Three Stooges meets Cheech and Chong premise.
Sunny and Workaholics are my favorite comedy shows but there are differences in style. Workaholics is more improv whereas Sunny sticks more to a script.

I really enjoy both shows.
If I was on a desert island and could only pick one show to watch re-runs of, I'd go with Sunny though.
Recently, they both have become unfunny and flat with very few laughs in each episode. Both had a great run but they just lost their steam after awhile. We watch every week hoping they'll get better but they're not producing any classic episodes anymore.
Granted I'd watch this over any primetime sitcom on air today. So by that standard it's pretty good.
