i think workaholics is funnier than seasons 3-7 of sunny, but seasons 1, 2, and 8 are funnier than workaholics overall. of course there are a couple exceptional episodes in sunny 3-7, but just speaking overall thats what i think.

reply

well thats almost a vote for workaholics lol

reply

im so torn because i think the best episodes of workaholics still arent as good as the best episodes of sunny.

reply

I love both shows. Sunny is just undeniably (for me) better overall though. Workaholics makes me lmao solo all the time, and it's crazy how far they push the limit in some ways... but Sunny is generally smarter in the writing aspect. In my opinion, Workaholics' writing is completely juvenile (not that Sunny isn't at times) in comparison to Sunny, but that's part of it's charm. I'm not even sure how much is written & how much is improv in either of these shows, so I suppose it's just a reflection of the creators. I'd say the major difference between the shows is that Sunny tends to get far darker with their humor than Workaholics does.

I prefer to not leave a signature. Thank you.

reply

Thats a great way to explain it! Both are great and now that Broad City is on i wear diapers on Wednesday night in fear that I'll laugh so hard i might pee myself

reply

I think if Sunny had a child it would be Workaholics.

IMO, funny, but not on the same level. Someone mentioned The League having a crossover with Sunny, I think it would be cool (I know I'm wishing) if Sunny teamed up with Workahokics for an episode

reply

I really like Sunny, been watching it since the beginning, but I always laugh louder when im watching Workaholics. It's always spot on.

reply

you are the first person on either board to say that

reply

Sunny is one of the worst comedies I have ever seen.

reply

Booo and not even an argument or reason to back up why? It's fine to think Sunny is awful, I think it's very funny and well written, but you just sound like you're trolling if you don't even say why it sucks.

reply

Comedy is objective. I never laughed once. The characters are entirely unlikeable. Some things don't need to be backed up with intensive analysis.

It sucks simply because I don't find it funny at all.

reply

now that right there is a valid opinion backed up with details. thank you @quirkyrecords

reply

comedy is subjective, tard, like everything else.

you think your brain is the standard for comedy? oooooooooooooook

reply

I like both but Always Sunny walks and ***** all over Workaholics, it isn't even funny the league is better than Workaholics.

reply

I am more into Sunny. Workaholics is not bad at all, but I think, the cast of sunny is more talented (especially Charlie Day and Glen Hoverton), and, despite more "classical" in regard of sitcoms, they have better writing.

reply

Both shows are hilarious but Sunny has better writing -- better characters and better at satire. Sunny seems to be on the decline now so Workaholics might be more laugh out loud funny at this point. But Sunny is also on their 9th season. I'd be surprised if Workaholics keeps it up that long.

Each new generation - or at least a sizeable portion of comedy fans within every new generation - is so desperate to find something new that they'll latch onto anything that's DIFFERENT from what came before it like it's a life raft! This phenomenon is caused by the desire to have something they feel to be their own, something they identify with, which is an understandable sentiment - we love that which is most like ourselves.
Here's the problem though: different does not intrinsically equal better.

Let me state it unequivocally:
This lame shi*com is one of the worst cases of Emperor's new clothes I have ever witnessed.

Workaholics is weak, charmless, annoying, it has zero elegance or subtlety and worst of all, has practically no trace of intelligence.
If that's the sort of comedy you like, well, you've found your nirvana.

reply

The desire from each new generation to latch onto something "different" is also for:
better quality
current, alive actors
modern references (for jokes)

"Here's the problem(,) though:" different does not intrinsically equal worse, (either).

You have latched onto the idea that "Workaholics" is "weak, charmless, annoying..." That is cute.

That said, I did not really get into Workaholics. I liked it for its simplicity and occasional laughs. When comparing Sunny and Workaholics, I would put Sunny over Workaholics. Easily.

reply

They're both great, and the two best shows going right now. I view them as even.
