Worst movies in a film series

I can remember as a kid, loving the movie Speed when it first came out. Then, a few years later, was so excited to see Speed 2 in theaters. Then, after walking out after the show, I can still remember that sense of extreme disappointment..how they could get it so wrong with such a great franchise. I hadn't felt that disgusted about a sequel since then.....until now with a Good Day To Die Hard. I won't even go into how bad this film is on so many levels. (It actually makes even Speed 2 look like a decent movie) That got me thinking though. What are some of your opinions on the worst sequels or terrible movies from a good franchise series. Here is my short list:

A Good Day to Die Hard
Speed 2
Godfather Part 3
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Batman and Robin
The Next Karate Kid
The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon's Emperor
Jaws: The Revenge

Any others that come to mind?

reply

Die Another Day
Live Free or Die Hard
The Mummy 3 (The Mummy 2 was as bad, but had a better villain)

Why the hell do so many people hate Scream 4? I liked it a lot more than that convoluted mess that was Scream 3. Stop letting nostalgia blind you.

A Good Day to Die Hard- the worst I have ever seen. Hard to believe that this was even made.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- Like someone else has stated, Aliens?! F*#k you Hollywood.
2fast 2furious- 2terrible to watch.
Fast and Furious(2009)-Because all this franchise needed was some Cocaine.
Fast 5-The one that made me finally stop watching.
Speed 2
The Amazing Spiderman- A bad start.
Spiderman 3- Should have just made a 4th and shortened this one.
The Matrix Revolutions
Batman and Robin
The Mummy Returns
The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon's Emperor
The Land Before Time III: The Time of the Great Giving
Ninja Turtles 2
Ninja Turtles 3
Transformers 2
Transformers 3
Oceans 12

Two movies hardly constitutes a franchise.

Iron Man 2 and 3.

Amazing Spider Man

Hangover 2

This is easy.

With very few exceptions, anything after #3 will suck. And with a few more exceptions, #2 will probably be very weak too.

Bam. there's my list.

reply

Batman and Robin
Jaws 4

And, the only movie I've ever walked out on....and I saw Batman and Robin in the theatre....

Lawnmower Man 2.

I think me and my friend made it perhaps 15 minutes into that and walked out.....we theater hopped into Van Dammes "Sudden Death".

For me the biggest drop in quality from a classic original to a crappy sequel is from Jaws to Jaws: The Revenge. This one comes fairly close though.

"Walk down the right back-alley in Sin City, and you can find anything...."

reply

-Moonraker

-Alien3

-AVP

-Die Hard 5

-Predator 2

-Terminator 3

-Star Wars ep 1,2,3

-Class of 1999 part 2

-American Ninja 3

-Dark Knight Rises, not really bad but dissapointing compared to the others

Defending:

-Taken 2, not as good as the first one but has such an so-bad-it's-good feeling over it so you have to love it!

-Jaws The Revenge, for the same reasons, my fave in the Jaws series SERIOUSLY!

-Temple of Doom, great Indy flick, nothing wrong with it

-Indy 4, worst in the series but not as bad as people want to point out

-Superman Returns, great movie
