I can remember as a kid, loving the movie Speed when it first came out. Then, a few years later, was so excited to see Speed 2 in theaters. Then, after walking out after the show, I can still remember that sense of extreme disappointment..how they could get it so wrong with such a great franchise. I hadn't felt that disgusted about a sequel since then.....until now with a Good Day To Die Hard. I won't even go into how bad this film is on so many levels. (It actually makes even Speed 2 look like a decent movie) That got me thinking though. What are some of your opinions on the worst sequels or terrible movies from a good franchise series. Here is my short list:

A Good Day to Die Hard
Speed 2
Godfather Part 3
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Batman and Robin
The Next Karate Kid
The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon's Emperor
Jaws: The Revenge

Any others that come to mind?

RoboCop 3 gets the bulk of my personal hate. Mostly because the original RoboCop is one of my favorite movies.

But... judging from the trailer it looks like Terminator Genisys will grab the trophy for being the most crappy movie in any franchise, ever :(

What do they all have in common? A reliance on digital effects to carry the story!

Jaws 3-4
Matrix 3-4
Batman forever
Batman and robin
Highlander 2-3
RoboCop 3
Superman 4
Jurassic World
Terminator 3
Prometheus
A good day to Die Hard
Indiana Jones and the kingdom of crystal scull

Unless you mean the Animatrix there were only 3 matrix movies. Or you might mean an upcoming movie (gid forbid)

matrix 2-3 , definitely. Animatrix was ok. Hope new movie will never happen...

Alien vs Predator
Star Wars: 1 and 2
Tremors 4
The Matrix: Reloaded (an unpopular opinion, but I have a soft spot for revolutions)
BIONICLE: The Legend Reborn
Batman Begins (very very good, just had much better sequels)
Spiderman 3
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug
Terminator 3
Those are some examples of mine. Ironically, most of those series include some of my favourite films (Aliens, The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Rings 1 and 3)

Unless I missed it I can't believe nobody mentioned Star Trek V The Final Frontier.

Worst in series:

Escape From L.A.
Ghostbusters 2
Gremlins 2
Another 48 Hours
Porky's 3
Dirty Harry The Dead Pool (not as good as the others but watchable especially
for Jim Carrey lip syncing Guns N Roses lol)
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks 2
Conan the Destroyer
Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Slap Shot 2

Rush Hour 3 was ok but could've been better

I know some of these are from series that were only 2 movies but they are still series of a sort.

almost forgot:

Meatballs 2-4
Shrek 3 (never saw 4)

How about a series where the movies have nothing to do with each other but have the same actors?

For example: Abbott and Costello
Their worse movies to me are:
Little Giant
Jack and the Beanstalk
Dance With Me Henry

The only actual sequel they did was the inferior Buck Privates Come Home which was nowhere near as funny as Buck Privates.

The Our Gang/Little Rascals shorts series:
Little Papa
Spooky Hooky
Reunion in Rhythm
and most of the MGM ones after Hal Roach left.
