Sinister vs Insidious

Which movie was better?
Which movie was scarier?

I didn't hate either film but I didn't like them either.

But in the contest, I think Sinister wins.

Sinister set up its protagonist and his family better character wise. The tapes were a nice creepy touch. The one thing I hated about Sinister was that it was awfully lit. I swear I couldn't see what was going on in the film most times, and the absolute refusal to turn on any lamp was hilarious.

I did like the demon in Insidious. But I think they didn't use him enough and used him in the wrong way. Plus adding another demon to the mix at the last half was completely redundant. The part where the father enters the demon world was a very large dropped ball. They could have gone totally freaky with it but didn't.

Scarier and better, Insidious.
Sinister, i didn't even recall it a few days after watching it.

Sinister was better I think.

I enjoyed them both. Sinister gets the edge though for me. The 8mm movies and the music that was in the movie made the film creepy to me.

both were *beep* af, i'm a huge baby and those movies didn't scare me at all (though lately i found out that i'm not scared by supernatural/ghost/demon/etc movies)

Sinister wasn't scary to me at all - it was kinda boring tbh, I thought 'Insidious' was more creative and fun

*beep* knows, they are both forgettable, Insidious was on TV about 20 minutes ago and I already can't remember half of what happened.

Why not try watching a real film with proper production, story writing and character development? I couldn't tell you one scene from Sinister, but everyone remembers the infamous head twist scene from The Exorcist - and I don't really rate it that high. Point is a well written horror film plays on your mind for years, the stuff, like this, that comes out these days is forgettable within 10 minutes.

I looked it up again on the IMDB for you (Sinister) all I remember is Ethan Hawke was a horror/murder writer. Can't remember any supposedly scary scenes.

Although Sinister was a great movie, I have to say that Insidious was WAY better overall and scarier also. I think it depends on the person though. When Blair Witch Project came out and everyone was completely terrified after seeing it, it didn't do anything for me at all. Paranormal Activity scared me more than Blair Witch, and most people think Paranormal Activity was boring, LOL. Loved Insidious though..and I don't scare easy.
