Underrated as Hell! - Skyline (2010) Discussion

I saw it last night, and wasn't expecting much either, and i must say that i was plesantly surprised how good it was to me... i gave it a 7/10, a more accurate score would be 6.5. The acting was fine, imo Eric Balfour isn't that bad actor.. i like him, he is no Tom Cruise or Christian Bale, but he did a nice job, he is also the reason i see Haven, apart from the eye candy Audrey Parker (can't remenber the actress name).anyway... this is no 4.5 movie, it deserves better score, much much better than battle los angeles. Crystal Reed i so so fine to watch too.

Only thing is, every positive overall rating people have posted are people who had heard from other people that the movie was...not bad, but terrible. Fact is, they weren't expecting much, and weren't disappointed.

I agree with you, OP. Why is this movie so hated and insulted is beyond any logic. Just like the fact that a missed abortion called District 9 is in IMDB's top 250. Well, I suppose logic and this site aren't friends.
Those who claim that Skyline is "the worst movie ever made" should go and try making something this good with such a little budget. Let's see if they can do a better alien invasion movie.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

yeah, i never get it why this movie has not made it at least to 6/10 on the boards, acting is brilliant, fx are convincing and suspense is top notch given the relatively small budget. that's not fair.

I still fail to see how the ending was quote 'good', had the credits rolled after shots of the worlds destruction I would have no problem with this film. It would have set itself apart, no heroes, no survivors, total annihalation. Would have deserved a 6-7 out of 10. But the real ending just made me, and everyone i know who saw it feel ill. It felt too out of place for an alien invasion, and was plain stupid. I hear the word 'intelligent' being thrown around too. Also completely untrue. If it had it would have stopped at the destruction and left the rest to our own imaginations. Instead of 'thats my wife!! I'm the only AWOL alien loll look at me go, gonna smash through a wall, ready? One, two, three, hulk smaaaash!'

No, just no.
The ending alone makes this film deserve 4 out of 10 at best.
Ive seen *beep* Syfy films with less retarded closing scenes.

I respect everyones opinion but I will say this is the first movie I ever actually wanted to walk out of in a theatre. I don't mind movies that take place in one setting, but the previews for the film where deceptive and made it seem like it was going to be quite a bit different than it actually was. Also I like almost every actor involved which is why I went to see it in theatres. To me it was boring that the film took place basically in an apartment since there wasn't really enough side drama between the charaters to make up for the lack of different settings.

I will always remember this movie because right before we walked into see it I saw "Red" was playing in the theatre next to it and thought "man, I really should go see that instead"....I chose poorly.

I really liked this movie and was pleasantly surprised at how good I thought it was. I hadn't heard anything about it before. I just saw it on Netflix and added it to my queue. Its sat there for awhile and then I decided to watch it a couple of days ago not really expecting much.

I thought it was really good! Perfect? No-- but very entertaining and different. Regular folks in an unexpected situation. I was wanting more by the end of the movie.

Its kinda stuck in my mind for a few days as well-- the whole concept of something like that happening. Made me wonder if we really want anyone out there to know we are here.... lol..

My hubby walked through while I was watching and thought he might have to watch the whole thing too.

One thing though- -If it was me- I wouldn't keep going up in the buildings. haha I thought that wasn't very safe to say the least...
