why does everyone hate it so much??

I just read some reviews, like metacritic and ebert and they trashed the movie. I know its not oscar material but it made me laugh throughout the movie. I almost always agree with general reviews , it shocks me that this one was different

Agreed that there some annoying things. The little girl, the cousin's accent to name two. But going to the extent of those poor grades???

Because the entire plot revolves a liar trying to fake his way into a girls pants by convincing his brow beaten receptionist to go along with an amazingly stupid lie. worst movie i have ever seen regarding gender politics since The Ugly Truth (2009) and The Heartbreak Kid (2007)

I had no real issue with the movie, but then I saw the "behind-the-scenes"-stuff, where they said that the "bikini-scene" (you probably know which one I mean) was made to appeal at the male audience. So sexist! And the worst thing was, it came from one of the female actors, as they accepted the *beep* stupid explanation. I will probably never be able to view this film again just because of that fact. I can accept a fair amount of sexist stuff IN a movie, but when it turns out it's also OUTSIDE the movie, I'm not in the league, man...

Coming from a male, by the way.

Because it was really, truly bad?

As with most Sandler vehicles since Big Daddy, this movie was thrown together with the same story, only different jokes and characters. Predictable, tired jokes with some boilerplate "touching" moments, and Sandler's character ending up with a woman way out of his league. Same every time.

I also feel this movie's sole purpose at the end of the day was to get Brooklyn Decker into a main role so they could get her into a bikini as often as possible. And she's not even that great looking as far as models go. Amazing from the chest up, but that's it.

I started watching this movie because I was in the mood for some lighthearted fun on a rainy day, but needed to swith it off after Aniston's metamorphosis scene. Everything in this movie was just plain wrong. I had some hope when they showed those over-the-top plastic surgery freaks - hey, a nice satirical nod to the current Hollywood culture - but then felt they went completely wrong by introducing a love interest not much different from those caricatures. Yay, another blonde bombshell.

On top of that, I can't believe they tried to justify Jennifer Aniston playing a plain single mom, by making her wear normal clothes and - oh my god - glasses. An actress as fit and diet-focused as Aniston would need a little bit more padding to pull off playing a normal person. All this followed by the classic metamorphosis, a moment where the audience is supposed to go wow, through which the makers basically tell all women they cannot be attractive without wearing a tight dress and overpriced heels.

Sigh, it's just boring.

How is scamming your way into women's pants funny? I don't get what's funny about this crap. The actors looked like they got an easy pay day because they all looked like they were elsewhere (except Sandler who really thought he was acting- except he always "acts" like that).

Sandler has a cult following. Those folks (including me) tend to like his movies WITH their trademark humor. If someone...a critic...doesn't like it, they'll likely pan it. It's no biggy. I don't need the support of some mindless critic who fits into the following hierarchy.

Those who can, do.
Those who can't do, teach.
Most who can't do or teach at least understand.
Those who can't do, teach or understand, criticize.

It's like in The History of the World. First came the birth of art, then came the inevitable afterbirth...the critic.

The little girls accent was precious...exactly like how an kid would sound if she was affecting an accent but didn't actually have the accent. It was supposed to sound fake.

The cousin's accent cracks me up everytime I watch it...and I've watched it many times.

But of course, I am being aggressively naïve.
