I just read some reviews, like metacritic and ebert and they trashed the movie. I know its not oscar material but it made me laugh throughout the movie. I almost always agree with general reviews , it shocks me that this one was different
Agreed that there some annoying things. The little girl, the cousin's accent to name two. But going to the extent of those poor grades???
I usually love both Aniston's and Sandler's movies, but I watched about 30 minutes of this on cable and switched to old Will and Grace reruns. I did not regret the decision.
I'm not sure why people are taking it so badly. I seldom watch comedies and I certainly never go to the theater and pay top dollar on them. So given that ..I did this one ridiculous and over the top nonsensical but it also had some real hilarious moments. Especially the early parts of the movie in the plastic surgeons office.. I also find Anniston and Sandler to be a charming couple thus making it all more bearable. And following the not one ounce of giggle from Bad Teacher (my 2 comedies for the year)..this one wins by a mile. I did laugh here at least. That's all I wanted. I could care less about the wacky premise and whether or not it makes any sense at all. It's a comedy. Suspend judgement.
I usually detest Adam Sandler movies, lukewarm about Jennifer Aniston, and only rented this because I'm trying to see all the top box office hits of the last few decades.
That said, I liked Just Go with It a lot. Aniston & Sandler have good chemistry, cute story, no Rob Schneider.
Don't know what the pro critics were, or weren't, seeing in this movie. I'd recommend it.
Okay I'll tell you why I hated it. In essence it redefines the words "try-hard" and "lame". Basically, the film stretches the viewers credibility beyond any reasonable limit. The writer and director must believe that all viewers are utter morons to not question any of this.
* The ridiculous and absurd accents. Perhaps I could cope with the daughter adopting an obviously fake accent and a vocabulary which fools no one, but the German accent of the lame hanger-on, as well as his weirdo fake persona is so ludicrous it wouldn't fool anyone, even people who have never met a German.
* The loopy lying premise has no credibility. Has anyone got away with a fraction of the lies that Sandler tells? Of course not.
* The gormlesss and profoundly gullible nature of the Brooklyn Decker character.
* A dozen other reasons, that I'm too tired to elaborate on.
* The obvious conclusion. Let's face it, after watching the first 15 minutes, even "Blind Freddie" could tell that Sandler and Aniston were going to get get together. Actually, I'm not sure about that, because I'm bailing out half way through to save my sanity.
But I was in a generous mood when I rated it, I gave it 2/10.
Do you even know what genre you were watching? Yes, the premise was ridiculous as were the accents. They're intended to be. Your comments are kind of like complaining that you dont like Keystone Kops because they're too slapstick.

I think it's one Jen's funnier movies. And Sandler seemed to let it all hang out. I have it DVR'ed and I've watched it at least 8 times. Love the "hula" part. Kidman was a very pleasant surprise. There were a couple of cringeworthy parts but you get that in every movie.
