why does everyone hate it so much??

I just read some reviews, like metacritic and ebert and they trashed the movie. I know its not oscar material but it made me laugh throughout the movie. I almost always agree with general reviews , it shocks me that this one was different

Agreed that there some annoying things. The little girl, the cousin's accent to name two. But going to the extent of those poor grades???

reply

I don't get it either. Funniest film I've seen in at least 4 months which is pretty good really considering some of the poor reviews here.

reply

bcuz it's a horrible plot and acting by main character.

come on, a 6yo kid forces you to pay flight tickets to bahamas and you actually do that because you want to keep dating a hot chick? REALLY? you could have BOUGHT a harem for all that.

reply

Lol, I get what you mean, but still is a comedy, come on... a person with that nose, an annoying cousin like that, its just make beleive. Dont take it so seriously.

I think critics are getting tired of sandler being a money producing machine with every movie he releases and they try to critize him. I like Ebert as a critic but I beleive he can be wayyyy subjective some times and inconsistent with his justifications for bad scores

reply

dont take me wrong - i kinda like all the idiot plots out there, as im the first fan ever of every single stupid horror flick. i just dont stand adam sandler's movies. at least, when you watch horrors, nobody wants you to actually believe in that. it's fiction.

while i was watching "just go with it", he reminded me another movie of him "50 first dates" (or sort of). and i was like: what am i watching? same character - different situation? what the *beep* is this?

sadly, i feel the same for jennifer aniston. they are both box office successes (quite inexpicably) probably they are even talented, i dont know. we all never figure it out, as they keep doing the same thing since the past 10 years.

reply

I don't expect a lot from Sandler's movies, and I enjoy them. I love his movies with Drew Barrymore - I think they COULD have been the new Goldie Hawn/Chevy Chase. AND his movies ALWAYS have awesome soundtracks.

reply

You take movies way to serious.

And
People dont like cause jennie is freaking hot 4 her age, and they jalous

reply

Have you seen Brooklyn Decker? I'd pay for a fake vacation and family for that.

"I think Eskimos are smug"

reply

You were expecting it to mirror real life? Not this genre.

reply

I'm with you! I thought it was great! Pretty funny beginning to end. Movie critics shouldn't be allowed to review comedies. They know they're going to trash them before the previews even begin.

reply

beware what you say stingr22. sandra bullock won the oscar for "the proposal" last year, and it was a comedy too. this means not every comedy out there has to be totally cheesy

reply

Sandra Bullock did NOT win the oscar for 'The Proposal'...

reply

well she won it because of the blind side. she has been just nominated for golden globe for the proposal (and that was her 4th or 5th nomination). call when adam sandler's comedies achieve the same

reply

Gary Oldman kicks ass as an actor and he hasn't won an oscar, I think not even a nomination. I dont get your point, when adam sandler movies achieve the same what?

Adam Sandler has played the same character in all his recent comedies . A funny guy, with a good or heroic job, that gets more hot women than hugh heffner. I dont think adam sandler cares about an oscar or nominations, he produces more money with happy madison than god, he just wants the cash to keep on coming.

I just said I liked the movie. Harmless fun. My point is that critics just like to trash this kind of movies, so when they do a good review on any movie, it means that the movie really earned it.

Ive put wayyyy too much thought into this lol

The comedies they like are usually indies with ugly guys.

Same here. I go to movies several times weekly and so often see really boring Hollywood "romantic comedies", which generally have 5-6 giggles in total. At least in this I chuckled pretty consistently from beginning to end. I like non PC humour, and the cheeky romantic aspect of this comedy took up very few minutes. I really disliked the three supporting cast, but I quite liked the young girls, she had an interesting gleam in her eye and looked like she was thoroughly enjoying herself :) Jen and Adam aren't great actors by any means, and sometimes you could tell when Adam was breaking loose from the script, I think a better director could have better capitalised on those moments. But this comedy sits a little higher than most Hollywood comedies, and for the genre, that's enough for me. I will likely never again laugh as much in a movie as during my 5 first viewings of There's Something About Mary, or the first Mask.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

reply

I thought it was a good movie. I didn't read any reviews because I think they usually tend to be a little too critical. The only thing I found kind of annoying was the girl doing the British accent, but other than that it was a cute, funny movie.

reply

I also thought it was a good movie - fun to watch The make believe accents were the only thing I didn't like. I loved the hulu dance segment with Jennifer and Nicole. There was definite chemistry between Jennifer and Adam.

reply

The fake accents were supposed to be ridiculous. To me they achieved that but it sounds like for more than a few people, they were just annoying.

reply

It was stupid. And there were limited funny parts to make up for the stupidity. This is one case where I agree with the critics for the most part. It had it's moments but if I'm just happy I didn't pay for this movie. I work at a theater so it was free.

Just Go With It - 6/10
Battle: Los Angeles - 5/10
OT

reply

Because Adam Sandler's character was a plastic surgeon.

Please watch my review, and you will understand why I hated it. I really hated this movie. I found it to be insulting, actually. I usually don't give such negative reviews to a movie.

Every one hates it because it STINKS. My girlfriend and I never once cracked a smile. 2 hours on my life I will never get back. Metacritic and Ebert are right on. I should of known better; any Adam Sandler so called comedy is bound to be a disaster.
