So young people liked it, and older people thought it sucked?
That's what I'm gathering here. Is there anyone here in their 30s/40s/50s (or older) that actually enjoyed this?

shareI'm "up there" and LOVED this movie from beginning to end. I just saw it and had the theater to myself for the last showing. I find enjoyment in all these type of movies and take it for what it is and not for what it ought to be. It's only entertainment. Anyone can find technicalities to every movie if they feel like being totally critical about it. Anyway, I really enjoyed it and would watch it again.
share38 and I disliked.
In 1999 I watched the original and although not thrilled like anybody else that year I appreciate the concept.

26, and I was unimpressed. I'm a big fan of the original and Book of Shadows.
shareI'm 52 and went with my son, 26. We both laughed through most of it. A pointless mess.
Oh what a falling off was there.
I feel as though the fact that the first film is among my absolute favourite horror movies overrides the fact that I am twenty-two years old, which apparently invalidates my opinion, and therefore am going to respond regardless of an arbitrary age restriction.
I thought it was all right. It was much better than expected, in honesty, but that is an easy feat to accomplish when the trailers made it out to look like a teenage-pandering spit in the face to the original.
The chemistry between the characters was enjoyable, and their dialogue was occasionally genuinely humourous, as exchanges between real people often are.
Whilst the strongest portion of the film was certainly the first and second acts, the third didn't ruin the setup by any means and provided an acceptable conclusion. I found myself legitimately upset at having none survive, as this film does well in fostering attachments to its characters. However, I'm glad the film defied common horror tropes and allowed for a lack of survivors.
The tying-in to the original was done respectfully, and it served overall to be a worthy sequel. It was fantastic to have more detail fed in to the lore of the Blair Witch.
The largest downfall has to have been showing the creature. It may have been well-animated, but "monsters" are always scarier when you can't see them. It's about time people learned the first rule of horror: leave it to the imagination.
Catch me when you can, Mishter Lusk.
Watched it in the same cinema where I saw the first film, when I was 20 years old. The friend who watched it with me is in his 40s.
He loved it. I enjoyed the last half of the film, but generally thought it was average. Ruined by jump scares.
Upon 2nd viewing, I appreciated a lot more. Never go to the theater with acid-reflux acting up.
