So young people liked it, and older people thought it sucked?

That's what I'm gathering here. Is there anyone here in their 30s/40s/50s (or older) that actually enjoyed this?

It's not really about age, but intelligence.

36. Thought it was fine. Just basically a sloppier, less subtle remake of the BWP, with some decent moments.

I'm 53 and I preferred it to the original.

The shaky camera was far less distracting this time.

The biggest thing for me was the language. In the first movie, they swore so often it just got old very quickly. F-bomb after f-bomb. It seemed they added an f-bomb to almost every line.

In this one, when Peter shouted one about 30-40 minutes in, it had an impact. Something had scared him and pushed him to the point where he felt the need to add something.

Swears are meant to provide impact. When Peter swore so far into the movie, it got my attention. Okay, now he's really scared. I get it. In the first movie, they were swearing constantly to emphasize every single thing they said. After 10 or so in a row, I did not care what they were talking about. They had no way to show us through dialogue that things were getting worse.

I did prefer the mystery in the first one. Did Josh disappear, or did he make the stick figures? What could possibly make Mike stand in the corner? Was there really something there or just their imagination?

I loved how they walked for hours, with a GPS, which sent them back to the exact same spot this time. I liked the jump scares, but I agree with many others here that there were too many.
