Is the witch an alien? (Spoilers)

With the strangle light in the end coming thru the house, the look of the actual witch, the time traveling, and the whole ambiance.....could the witch actually be an alien?

reply

One of the screenwriters, Simon Barrett, confirmed that the creature seen in the movie, out in the woods and inside the house, is not the Blair Witch. But it is a previous victim of the witch under her control. That victim is said to be Elly Kedward. This means that Elly and the Blair Witch are two separate beings. This is where the interview where Barrett stated this came from. the guy who interviewed Barrett gives his own theories but he's only going by what Barrett told him.

I don't care that the writer is backtracking now. He's adding information that can't possibly be found in the movie itself to get around the fact that everybody is disappointed in the appearance of the witch. There's nothing in the movie to even suggests what he's saying is what's actually happening and beyond that every character in the film reacts to the monster in the film as though it's the witch, and applies the mythology of the witch (can't look at her because she's suddenly medusa) to the creature in the house as well. Not only that, Adam Wingard already stated that the witch is in the movie months ago. So if what we see in the house isn't the witch...then where is she?

This all comes across as desperate damage control from the writer and the director now that the vast majority of audiences and critics have lambasted their movie. It's clearly a grasping for straws reaction from a creative team that's disappointed in how poorly received their latest movie has been. Even with all that being said I might actually be kinder to them in their attempts to retcon what they've done if it weren't for that fact that they've both taken to twitter to insult both Clint Eastwood and his movie, which beat them handily at the boxoffice. So not only are they're liars...but they're kind of a$$holes.

I totally agree. Sounds like major backtracking done by them and mocking Sully/CLint Eastwood is just sour grapes. It was a bad movie, they upset their fan base, and need to just accept it.

reply

i dont understand how people are disappointed. I thought it was terrifying. Id much rather have that then the stereotypical witch

I think that's just what you want it to be.

I think that's just what you want it to be.

Haha no, I don't think so, son.

Why would any of us want that to be the case?
No, some of us are just smart enough to see the obvious truth.

I think what is more likely is that YOU want to believe the writers.

reply

If its not the witch then what exactly is the Blait Witch then? I thought it was obviously Elly because she had been tortured.

By the power of truth, I , while living, have conquered the universe.

What difference does it make? lol
If that is the case then it should have been explained in the film otherwise it is useless.....It's not a real story. Why should the writers have to explain something like that to the viewers?

Since this is a Blair Witch film....People will see that creature and think "OMG It's the Blair witch!"

And the writers will say "Ah ha! Fooled ya! That isn't actually the blair witch, it is one of her victims under the witches control"

Honestly, that must be one of the most pretentious things I've ever heard lol.

They clearly made up that explanation after they had already released the film to try and make it seem more clever.....But it isn't.

reply

Yes, the witch is an alien.

No, the witch is not an alien.

reply

I'm sorry, but yes.

reply

I am also sorry....But no.
Come on, man why would there be aliens in a blair witch film?
What indication is there that this film contains aliens?

Da *beep* is this?

reply

It definitely reminded me of an alien. I don't know if any of you have seen "The Watcher in the Woods," but it also has an alien presence haunting the woods, and flashing lights like that are a frequent part of the story.

reply

Time traveling is a trope used in Alien movies not really in ghost movies. even the X files had episodes of time traveling or people spending days in what seemed to everyone else to be only hours.

If this movie was an X file episode it would have all the details of an alien encounter.
the bright light, the sound coming out when the light showed up (like a ship)
the fact that no bodies are found, EVER.... which would not suggest ghost or witches but would be a trope of Alien abduction.
the fact that the witch herself looked like an alien instead of a demon or spirit.

the guys doing this movie did such a lousy job at making a blair witch sequel that they ended up creating an alien movie by accident.... How do you mess up so bad?
you get hired to create a witch ghost entity movie and you come out with something that resembles an alien movie more???? wtf

reply

So true! The movie turned out to be more of an X-File episode than a real movie. If they knew they were going to show the witch, either show us or don't. All we got is this unclear, pale, long-limbed thing that looked more like an alien than any witch I can think of.

reply

plus that stupid screeching.... she sounded like the cockroach from Men In Black....
the noises it made were so Alien lol 

reply

It was lightning slowed down. I thought that was pretty obvious since it looked just like the normal-speed lightning that came after it.
