3 plot events that made me roll my eyes

1). The 2 guys who notice them up there just happen to be criminals who stole the car. What are the odds that they happen to run into car thieving criminals in that spot instead of ordinary people who would dial 911?

2). The truck just happens to hit the drone right when the drone is approaching the diner. what are the odds that the truck and drone would arrive at the same spot at the same time?

3). The twist. The lead actress had a leg injury, she was hungry and dehydrated, and she was terrified. But she wasn’t so far gone that she would hallucinate her friend’s presence for days.

For me the real plot hole is that she had 60 000 followers, god knows how many watching their escapade more or less live, she suddenly disappeared stop posting and not a single one called the cops; out of all the followers a few would be close friends or relatives or stalkers in love with her so someone would have called the cops or simply actually gone to the tower.

The 2 guys seemed to be living in a shitty RV, whether they were criminals or not we don't know but they were poor as F so they just seized a super easy opportunity to steal a decent car.

She wasnt doing it live. She specifically said she films it and later uploads a video (assumedly edited)

She posted the carcass dead animal being eaten by the vultures and got likes for it, so i assume she also posted the video before that (the 'we are gonna go up to the tower!' vid in the car)

Ordinary people probably aren't hanging out in the desert at night. I assumed they were cooking meth breaking bad style.

1) Criminals was kind of stupid plot. But writers they had to fill time I guess.

2) I laughed out loud when truck stuck drone. It was stupid and idiotic. Lazy writing. Why would she fly drone right above road on such low altitude...

3) I have to give them credit - that plot twist was not on my bingo list. But it was stupid, she would not hallucinate her friend there. But still fun twist.

But they really missed opportunity to be original and have everyone survive. So tired of those movies always killing every character except 1 or 2. And "final girl" will always be the most boring, lifeless, charisma free whining woman who will always look down at everyone else as if they are monsters and only she is the good person.

I lose interest to care about anyone in those movies because from the first moment we already know who will survive and everyone else will die. So why bother.

Blondie was interesting character. I wish she would survive too. But it always has to be boring depressed final girl.

Agree re Hunter. But once we learn she slept with Dan she was doomed. Reminds me of Juno in The Descent (at least pre-sequel). The character arc always seems along the lines of: Will she come back to life & appreciate what she has, while learning that what she had (a cheating spouse/fiance) wasn't all that after all?

1. Not a plot hole. Call it lazy writing if you want, but that’s not a plot hole.

2. Yeah, and? It absolutely COULD happen. Maybe it is “unlikely”, but it is also less unlikely than successfully guiding a drone to such a specific space, while miles away. There is a fair chance that something will go wrong along the way, and something did.

3. You said it yourself. She had a serious leg injury, and was starving and severely dehydrated. Those are the exact conditions that would lead to extreme delirium.

Furthermore, IT’S A FUCKING MOVIE! This isn’t some esteemed science study. It's just Hollywood magic trying to make a few bucks by distracting you from the fact that your existence is meaningless. Learn to suspend your disbelief and enjoy yourself.

Sorry but I have to correct you on number one - the OP didn't say it was a plot 'hole', they said plot 'event'. I think you misread the subject title. No biggie 🙂

When Becky saw Hunter's tattoo and said "Dan could never say the words 'I love you'. 143" and Hunter immediately caved and admitted she had an affair with him - that's when I rolled my eyes. There was and had been no inkling of it coming out as far as Hunter was concerned. Yeah, Becky figured it out but surely Hunter's response would have been to first play dumb. Generally the immediate reaction is to fob it off; make Becky believe she's paranoid or something, and then explain the tattoo as some other meaning. Perhaps later in the film when her conscious is really eating at her she could admit to it. I dunno, but that's how I would have written it as that's more realistic.

On number 1.. I'm using some faith in humanity by saying this, but I feel like the majority of people who are classified as thieves are not actually evil, and I would wager to say that the vast majority of people who would steal their car, would at least call the authorities from a payphone several miles down the road to let them know someone is stranded there.

reply

You would hope. As you say, even thieves are not generally that coldblooded.

reply

Yea.. i assumed they somehow thought they just went up there and will come down again no problem, but it makes no sense when they use the flair and there is these ladders lying around
