franchise future

AMC clearly doesn't want to let this universe die. Makes me glad that there other earlier original programs, like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, even The Killing, all got comparatively dignified endings.

So makes me wonder, where do you think this franchise will be in 5 years?

Because while I'm sure they'll renew any that seem remotely promising, Dead City, Daryl Dixon, Rick & Michonne, I don't really think any of them will have that kind of longevity.

I think More Tales from the Walking Dead or whatever that's called has the best shot for sake of being an anthology.

Beyond that though. I feel like the best shot will be, wherever Rick went, develop a new series that's set there. Not necessarily about Rick, just the people in general.

Oh, how I wish they could find someone to do this and do it right. It's what Fear should have been, watching how unique groups of people handled the outbreak - from the realization of what is happening, to the "new normal" of sustainability in their reality. Then find some other story to tell from a different perspective.

The scenarios are nearly unlimited. The struggles and twists can be new and fresh for each story arc. Maybe one per season?

great idea

but means new people every season , which may be hard work , and audience might not like them

Then maybe not an entirely new group each season. Maybe two groups, one wraps up at the end of the season, the other continues across seasons and new group is introduced. It could have some overlap for continuity.

Either that or a main group that establishes some sort of long term new normal and the audience can follow the established long term group, while getting the stories of new groups that discover them.

The Walking Dead is dead to me. I was ready to finish it, but Disney did it for me when they moved the series from a free tv channel to Disney+ streaming in the middle of the last season. I'm certainly not going to waste my time on any spin offs after that experience.
