Tom Holland is way too young to play Nathan Drake...

Seriously? Where did this casting come from? Because they think he'll be the next big thing because of Spider-Man? Can we get some realistic casting choices please?

I'm not saying Tom Holland wouldn't make a good Nathan Drake, he probably would, in 10 to 15 years... Not even Lara Croft is that young, she's in her late 20's during the new reboot, and Alicia Vikander is appropriately aged...

You can tell a movie will be terrible based on the casting.

reply

Ah, well... should have been Nathan Fillion anyway.

Now, more news has come out stating that he is actually playing the more realistic Young Nathan Drake from Uncharted 3... And that the movie is going to follow the flashbacks of Uncharted 3 instead of following the adventures of Nathan Drake, the character we've grown to love in Uncharted 1 - 4. That just raises the new question: Why are they even bothering to make an Uncharted movie if they aren't even going to use the real Nathan Drake.

reply

Because they plan to make 7 or 8 movies as if it's Fast & Furious. So that they won't run out of stories, they want to start very very early in the adventure of Drake. I think this idea will backfire, just like the Assassin's Creed movie.

Just like any movie franchise Hollywood is trying to kick off before the first movie is even out. They need to to wait and see if people actually want more before they plan so far ahead...

Marvel was smart with their Cinematic universe, but too many people are forcing their way to kick starting a franchise.

They should stick to that one idea I remember reading somewhere, where they are thinking of making a joint Universe for many of the video games... Just Cause, Hitman, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Thief are all planned to be in the same movie universe... Could you imagine Lara Croft teaming up with Agent 47 and Rico Rodriguez? I could see it happen...

Although, Thief takes place in the past, and Deus Ex takes place in the Future, so I doubt Garrett and Adam Jensen/JC Denton could show up... And no offence to Thief, but I'd rather see a Dishonored movie... And maybe a new Far Cry movie reboot that stays far away from Uwe Boll.

It happens all the time in today's cinema. It happened in Batman v Superman, where literally HALF of the movie spent on setting up the Justice League movie franchise before it even begun.

Cross game shared universe is a neat idea. Of couse past and future characters can be made to show up... by using the second most versatile film trope ever: Time Travel!

Lol @ Uwe Boll. At least get Paul W.S. Anderson. He understands gamers and knows a thing or two about making a succesful videogame movie franchise.

Man I got to tell you, this is a huge disappointment. Why would they make a movie about young Nathan? ... boring.

reply

Yea was really disappointing when I saw that he was casted. Way to young....

reply

I would have prefered a movie about an older Nathan Drake, but since they are making one where he is younger I think that Holland is a good choice. He looks a little like the young Nathan from the games.

reply

I was really hoping they would go with Fillion after that cool fan made film he did.

reply

Well it's acting. They can put make up on him to make him look older then he should be fine.

reply

Well considering drake was 25 in the first game and Holland is now 24, I'd say the casting is fine. Honestly, it was fine when the OP made this post 3 years ago.

He's also built like a ten year old girl.
