Really curious what dimbulb thought taking a shot at capitalism in the trailer was a good marketing decision. They are in such a woke bubble at Disney that they apparently didn't even realize how detrimental and antagonizing that was in these extremely politically polarized times.
They know what they're doing. They're intentionally driving away business they think won't be here in ten years anyway, so why appease traditionalists now? There will be a time when "wokism" (it will have a different name, of course) will be considered status quo without a single person questioning it.
Still, the actual audiences for this movie have been heavily skewing toward those of us who saw the first 3 Indy movies in the theaters. Wasn't all the "fan service" intended to draw in older ("traditionalists") viewers?
As for the future of "wokism", isn't it part of human nature to question the status quo and swim against the stream? Was there ever a time when not a single person questioned it?
I think you're probably right. I think almost all the young people are super woke. In a way I don't blame them, they've been handed a shit sandwich by the older super selfish greedy CEO's who ruined any chance for them to make a living wage.
Wage theft is HUGE - wages only up 27% in 20 years while housing prices up 150% in just 20 years!!
So, the super woke have gained huge ground in the work force, and they're destroying the old guard(white males).
It's not that I think white males are the problem, after all they build roads and almost everything else. But to the woke they are a symbol of everything that's gone wrong, and they are hell bent on destroying that symbol.
Right or wrong I don't think the woke can be stopped.
I think it's just as divided at least among the youth. My boys have said the "activists" were few in high school, a fairly large school. They form their own opinions along with their friends. They see the economy and inflation as bad and know why. They're tired of hearing "racism" cried out among the news or elsewhere to where it's meaningless, they don't believe it or in "white supremacy". Nobody will be caught dead with a Bud Light, it's got a stigma now as a "gay" beer. And they think the trans escalation is a fad and multiple genders is nonsensical. In my son's software engineering class, there actually was a trans who reverted back to being a girl, my son said nobody wanted her on their team. He reported his team did get stuck with her and she was useless. I'm telling you, the pecking order is still in force.
Now, in better times like when they were in elementary, I would have reinforced to my son to be compassionate and empathetic to the strange kid, but not now. He doesn't go out of his way to mistreat anyone but he will not befriend either.
There's a difference between "we should not oppress anyone, including (and it's funny that you used the nword)" and "we have to wash the feet of the (and it's funny that you used the nword) to wash our sins" - which is what the wokeism promotes.
You guys are so ufkcing divided between the extremes that you can't see any other option between KKK and "spit on me you mighty (and it's funny that you used the nword)"
Look at all these executives, at least HALF of them are the problem. All corporations have been infiltrated by these woke fanatics. Budweiser also comes to mind.
The real problem is all the white women. They form the central nervous system of the beast that allows the woke bullshit to proliferate. The subset of white guys who go along with it only do it for show, mainly. They'd drop it all faster than Larry Fink if it was either feasible or perhaps necessary.
Woke will wither. It's too crazy and self-cannibalizing to endure. This woker-than-thou doom loop will end. The reactions to Netflix's Cleopatra and Disney's live action Snow White are opening salvos in the march back to sanity.
I hope you're right, but I don't think we can go back to any semblance of sanity. Before I left the U.S. last year I could see it get worse and worse each of the 9 years I was there. One sociologist believes this will go on for 20,30, 40 years..and that's if the country survives.
I do think there's a good chance the U.S will survive for quite awhile, only because the rest of the world has even more serious problems. But as far as culturally or economically 90% of American's will suffer extreme hardship. It's already pretty bad, if not awful..but it's gonna get way worse.
