umm... this was recommended to me and I thought it was poorly made

Peeps said elsewhere that this film was akin to anti 'man from earth' - in other words, representing the opposite side, but being made just as well

I'm gonna say no to that - it was boring - plenty of decent flicks about demons and whatnot out there, but this wasn't it
The acting from the lawyer dude wasn't great - and as for the demon dude.... the main problem there was the script

The man from earth has great acting from pretty much everyone involved - and it has a vastly superior script - while the sound track is utter shite.

This film has mediocre acting from most actors involved, except perhaps the demon fellow - the script is poorly done - while the sound track is not too bad - I guess it is kinda reverse of the man from earth - lol

All in all, 3/10 for me.
To make this film better, they'd need to hire decent actors for all roles - write a decent script - the script is the worst thing here - the dialogue needs to be captivating, if you're going to make it a play-type of film (as was the case with man from earth). Keep the viewer on the edge of the seat - keep the tension high - there wasn't even one moment where I said to myself 'whoa, I didn't see this shit coming' - not once.

Waste of time.

i think this was made by that religious film company.

and usually that means its lacking real film making qualities (and budget), catered to specific churchy audiences, that think the film will change the world and reach everyone - but, they are so bad, the non-church people dont waste 2 minutes on it.

church people are totally blinded to how bed these films really are. you tell them it's about god, and they proclaim, " oh its the best most touching film in the world!"
it can be total crap and they STILL think its great.

anyway, this LOOKED intersting, in a CS LEWIS/Screwtape letters kind of way, so I plan to try to trudge through it.
even though I skimmed the scenes in Amazon and noticed MOST of it was two people talking at a table, very little else. yikes.

I just watched it again and relished its structure, theme, and superb acting.
I sincerely think you may really like it. The fact that it is mostly two guys sitting at a table kept the budget manageable. It is not your typical Christian film. I've had Agnostic, Atheist, and Jewish friends thank me for the suggestion.
Acclaimed movies with the same "guys sitting and talking" a la My Dinner With Andre lapsed me into a coma, but this movie is riveting.
Give it 20 minutes. That's not much, and if you aren't drawn it, quit. But, I think you will stay until the end.

I plan to watch the whole thing good or bad for the dialog mostly. I'm curious where they are going to take it and their presentation if Satan verses the whole.

The production quality is better than other companies so that helps alot. Feels like the church audiences simply accept ANY dime store production quality as long d it talk about God, while not realizing that immediately turns off most unsaved viewers. This one looks ok.

I get the dialog heavy premise. But movies are better shown not told. But I get it.
I didn't make it through dinner with Andre. I understood it but two guys just rambling is not a movie. Where as this at least had a point for the long discussion

Um, the "lawyer dude" was a psychiatrist, dispatched at the 11th hour to determine if the condemned was mentally competent to be executed. Someone more suspicious than I might conclude that you did not actually watch this movie.

Nah - I actually wanted to save other people time. I looked at the glowing reviews on the board - they did not match the reality. That's why I posted my review.
