I was about 30 minutes into this movie before I realised no one had said a word, and no one ever did. It didn't do anything to make the movie better, and it didn't lessen the movie, either. No dialouge means you save money.

There were some good tense scenes for our protagonist, but watching her actions made me think these were some really stupid aliens. If you're here to invade the planet, and have such a hard time with one girl, then how you gonna handle all 8 billion people. From all indications, it's gonna take a few hundred years to get the job done.

The backstory of the town hating her seemed unnecessary and unimportant. They went out of their way to establish this discord, but was it really relevant in the end? The aliens seemed to use it for something, but we wouldn't know cause no one ever spoke. In the end, she ended up like everybody else. Or it would seem.

Waste of time.

The "backstory" was the whole point of the film, and words were spoken during a certain scene.

Lol how can you say the backstory of the town hating her was unimportant and unnecessary? that was the whole point of the movie ffs. The movie begins with everyone hating her, spitting on her and shes miserable, then in the end after the aliens have taken over and everyone is being controlled by the aliens she loves it and everyone in the town now adores her and throws a party at the sight of her.

Instead of trying to stop the takeover and go find help shes living blissfully among them because they're nice to her now. So again no idea why you think the backstory of the town hating her is unnecessary and unimportant.

The movie is just okay, nothing great. The "no-dialogue" gimmick got old within 5 minutes. People talk even when they're alone. It seemed like they wanted to remake A Quiet Place, complete with the monsters. That alien with the giant praying mantis legs looked like it came straight out of that movie.

Both the aliens and protagonist were so stupid that it actually hurt my brain trying to enjoy this.

It's a kinda cool movie with a lot of stuff that works. For me, it's basically Signs meets A Quiet Place with maybe some 10 Cloverfield Lane thrown in. Nothing about the movie is really all that clever or inventive. The lack of dialog doesn't add much to the film and doesn't fit much into the story. I thought maybe the main character was meant to be mute, which could be interesting, or maybe it could be referential to old silent movies. But the decision just seems pointless, like hey, A Quiet Place did it, why not us? But AQP also played with deaf characters who couldn't hear at all, so silent scenes made sense. The aliens also looked as generic and uninspired as always. Maybe a 6/10 for me.
