So, anyone here changed their minds about this film since its release?

Specially after its sequel.

reply

Nope.. I found it laughably bad when I first saw it and it only gets worse on repeat viewings. The sequel only cemented my feelings.

Scott is a bizarre clumsy film maker. He has latched on to droids as his primary dramatic tools in this shit show, the shit show of a follow on (Covenant) and the equally moronic Raised By Wolves.

reply

If it’s all bad then why have you watched the film multiple times?

reply

Watching this movie and Covenant recently have made me like them way more and like Aliens way less.

reply

I thought it was a beautiful but stupid movie with a poor cast. I gave it about 7/10 but a second viewing lowered it to 6/10. But it's better than Covenant. Ridley Scott paid every attention to making the films look great but seemed to overlook developing a good story with interesting characters. Not a single character in either film stands out.

reply

this is a perfect answer. I liked, the "Sci-Fiy" location, but utterly forgettable for me. I think I bought the disc, but haven't any urge to sit through it again

reply

Nope. It's a mess and shouldn't have been made.

reply

Hear hear!

reply

Newp.

Ridley Scott poisoned his legacy with both movies. For some reason he seems to feel this obligation to correct the narratives created out of James Cameron's successful send up and all subsequent films, as well as the stupid Predator crossovers.

reply

That sounds like a reasonable motivation ... he had to have worked very hard to make these movie as technically beautiful and visually lush and then come up with a plot that makes no sense and characters no one could care for.

reply

No. I love this film.

reply

amen, totally agree, except the scientists doing retarded things and the ship captain being so careless until the middle of the movie the rest was absolutely on point, 10/10.

reply

Yes, at thirst I thought it sucked. Now I know it really really really sucked.

reply

When I saw how awful Covenant was, it made me appreciate it a bit more, though there's still some critical flaws with this film.

My change in perspective isn't as significant as what The Last Jedi did to my views on the Prequel Trilogy.
